My son hit the Uly with the lawn mower and tipped it over in the garage. Only damage was the handle bars bent. Does anyone know of any after-market bars with a similar bend and rise to the stock bars? I would even be interested in a set of stock bars if I could find a good set. (Yes, he has done an appropriate amount of push-ups) |

I mounted a set of Renthal aluminum bars on my Uly (honda ATV bend with 1" risers). After some adjustment, height and angle of grips is the same as stock Uly bars. |

I swapped out for MSR Racing Dominator Aluminum bars. The ATV high-bend is quite similar to the Uly bars, although they are about 2" wider. They come in Black too. I got them from Iron Pony for about $25. |

Clubmans? How do you get the cables to reach? |

The stock Uly cables can reach the tail light if you try hard enough. I don't know how anyone can sit so upright, it causes nothing but back and neck pain. I love my 1125CR's clubmans, and will be throwing a set on my XB/Uly once funding permits. |

Hey Two_buells, Where did you get that info? I need the measurements for 09 scg bars so I can find straighter ones for the wife. Sorry about the hijack, just...pretend I wasn't even here. |

Does anyone know if aluminum bars vibrate more than steel bars or does it make any difference? |

I noticed no difference at all in feel or vibration between the steel and the aluminum. MSR Aluminum ATV High Bend Bars:
The aluminum is quite a bit thicker, hopefully they don't bend again!

Thanks. Thats the info I needed. If anyone has their stock Uly bars, I would be interested in them also. |

Just my take on a bar setup I really like, better position then factory, not much loss in reach, infinite adjust-ability!!

It's beyond me why anyone chooses aluminum bars over steel. Aluminum is prone to catastrophic failure, steel not so much. Steel is far stronger than aluminum and more elastic. |

I would like to see that, just saying. |

That may be well and fun, but in reality, Aluminum bars tend to fare better than steel bars. Google it if you don't believe me. Plus we're not comparing apples to apples, the aluminum bars have 4x the wall thickness, so saying that the steel bars are far stronger is simply not accurate. |

Mikef5000, I am not a meterials expert, but aluminum does have to be overbuilt to match the strength of steel. Steel has much better fatigue resistance. Any engineers here to help me out? |

Our frames are aluminum... |

I hit a stopped car while doing 50mph. My HVMP bar end got bent, master cylinder mount and mirror mount broke, both mirrors came off, brake lever ground down, broken left controls, yet the stock Lightning handlebar didn't even get a scratch. |

As an aviation structural mechanic, I have an ounce or 2 of knowledge of metals. TOO MANY VARIABLES will be involved in this comparison, type of aluminum and steel, heat treated or not, extruded or milled, fluted or smooth bore, TYPE of aluminum and steel alloys, yada yada yada....... Lets just give the guy some options/ideas, and keep our opinions to ourselves, come on now guys!! |

Froggy, stock lightning handlebar is steel I think. Rr eater, what kind of site would this be if we didn't haul off and post our half-assed opinions? |

Blasterd, our frames are aluminum but I don't think they are subject to the same kind of stresses to which the bars are subjected. |

Well we could look at all major professional forms of motorcycle motor-sports, and as far as I can tell, they all use this strange though familiar material for the most part, aluminum I think they call it. And those that don't, usually are even high forms of motor sports, and they use even more unlikely titanium, but your basic off road or entry level form of racing uses steel and aluminum, so who the hell knows!! All I know is every pair of aluminum bars I have SERIOUSLY crashed with have always bent, never broken or sheared, though my hats off to the fact that steel bars were WAY EASIER to bend back to limp home with!!!
