2005 Buell XB9SX (CityCross), Translucid Hero Blue, in excellent shape with nice practical and functional modifications. My oldest wants me to give him a ride to Jr. High next year, so I bought a Ulysses, and am selling the bike I didn't ever expect to sell, a 2005 Buell XB9SX.

Never wrecked, looks and runs fantastic. 29,000 miles of mostly commuting, three long tours through the Smokey Mountains (been there, got the sticker ; )). Light visible wear and a nice patina where you would expect it, bike still looks fantastic (see pictures, more available upon request).

Mostly stock with some thoughtful commuter oriented modifications:
* Heated grips with automatic thermostatic power controller. No switches, it just gets warm when it gets cold.
* HID headlight (a genuine HID, not a really bright filament bulb). An interesting challenge to mount into a Buell Lightning, but I did it and it works great.
* Ported internal airbox (stock in 2005 was enclosed, in 2006 and up they went to a ported inner airbox, I mirrored the factory changes).
* Bar end mirrors.
* Soft Buell factory side bags (faded but otherwise in good shape).
* Soft Buell factory tail bag (faded but otherwise in good shape).
* Pirelli Scorpion Sync tires (great tire, stock for this bike, front 80% left, rear 30% left).
* Voltage indicator

Like I said, I bought this bike to ride forever, so it has the following "intended to pass it on to my kids" features:

* Always run with full synthetic oil in both engine and primary. Oil change intervals typically at 3500 miles.
* Full and detailed repair history from the day it rolled off the F&S Buell show room floor (one self induced "lost a bolt" problem, otherwise a flawless bike, most reliable thing I ever rode).
* Replaced oil pinion gear with new race part (old gears will wear on some bikes and some break at about 35k to 55k miles)
* Replaced oil pump with new stronger and higher volume "stealth update" part (stock on later Buell XB bikes).
* Original belt still looks perfect, sale includes spare belt to hang in the garage (bought from somebody parting out a low mileage 2006 9sx).
* Newer front and rear brake pads.
* Fresh plugs, newer clutch and throttle cables.

Bought and maintained by a long time Buell enthusiast intent on keeping the bike on the road for a long time. Many engine parts are common to the Harley Sportster, and should be readily available long after you and I are obsolete.

All reasonable offers will be entertained. But if the price gets too low, I'll go back to plan A, put a tarp over it and pass it on to the kids. : )

Sold! To a nice fellow on his way back from Afganistan. He flies into SC this week, and will ride it back to Ohio. Not the first time the bike has made that trip, but this time a new rider.

Threw in a bunch of goodies for him as well... including a copy of Court and Dave's book.

I expect he will end up in Germany, and probably bring the bike there. That would be a perfect place for a 9sx.
