Ok, I was having problems with a leak from my rear rocker box. I replaced the gasket on it and used hylomar to help with sealing. Only problem was I didn't have a new valve cover gasket. Thought I could get away with reusing it with hylomar to help. Well, looks like that didn't work. I tried redoing it again (no new gasket, it was sunday) and loaded on the hylomar. Still leaking very slowly. So, I'm just wondering. How sensitive are these valve cover gaskets to being reused. It seems like a crap shoot in that you get lucky sometimes and other times you don't. |

Reusing a leaking gasket will almost guarantee the gasket will still leak. Reusing a gasket that wasn't leaking is still a crap shoot. |

Make sure your fan is clean. My leaky rocker box cover goo'ed up my fan, which then ran slow and needed to be replaced. Check the fuse too (even if it still works -- could be melted), since a gooey fan draws more current than it is supposed to. |

Cleaned up the fan. It seems to be ok. Though I've had a bearing going out for some time now so if it dies, eh. |
