I have had the Fuel Solutions/Barkers flash for a few weeks now however I just haven't had any time to get on the bike for a extended period of time. Until today... Up until today my only riding was a hot lap around town and I did nothing more than click a gear or two along the way. The first opportunity I got to open the bike up was a short straight away coming off of a left hand stop light. I jumped on the throttle and the bike came right up. Short shifted to second and up it came again. Since owning the bike I've never experienced the front end skipping along the ground like this. Yes the bike would come up when it got up in the RPM's however it does it much sooner now. Enough so that I WILL be ordering a steering stabilizer to aide with the light front end under acceleration. The bike and the flashes.... From shortly after new I have had the tune in my bike. Simply because there wasn't a whole lot available when these bikes were released. I have never had my bike flashed until recently as I had the tune in it. I needed the latest flash in my bike in order to load the Fuel Solutions/Barkers tune. Brian at Schoch's HD hooked me up within minutes of my phone call to him. Riding home on the latest flash was very similar to my tune. My own personal opinion is that they are very close. I have no regrets purchasing the tune as I had it a year ago which gave me a year of trouble free riding, money well spent IMO. The Fuel Solutions/Barkers tune.... The bike does not hiccup, burp or fart,it is perfect. There is no decel popping and engine braking is not lost. The tune adds power across the entire power band. Enough so that at times you tend to under estimate how fast you are actually moving along. The bike definitely has more power now compared to the previous flashes. Sure there may be a few horse power to be gained from an actual dyno tune or data logging session of my bike however this Fuel Solutions/Barkers tune has to be dam close. I was sitting there today with a fellow forum member eating lunch and we wear talking about our bikes (of course!). I had said to him that I am 100% happy with the way the bike is currently running. I previously had bitched about the lack of power and I can honestly say that is not the case now. A big thanks to Dris and Dave. (Message edited by Puzzled on May 30, 2010) |

Did you get a hold of Dave? If not PM me your phone number and I'll forward it to Dave. Make sure you have the latest flash in your bike prior to making the Fuel Solutions flash appointment (I didn't!). All you will need is a cable, and a Windows computer with an Internet connection. Than tell us what you think of the flash after you get some miles on it. |

I'm kind of surprised that you paid $300+ for the tune from the guy from Ohio which you say was comparable to the most recent factory flash, and now you're okay with giving another $225 to the same guy (and Fuel Solutions) to finally get it right. I don't doubt that the FS Barker tune is really good but if I was you, I'd kind of feel like the Ohio guy owed it to me at no extra charge after gouging me on his original tune. |

The original o-s-b performance flash came out some time before the factory finally got the mapping satisfactory and man did the factory maps before that suck ass. |

Smoke4ndmears is 100% correct. Those of us with the early 08 bikes didn't have a lot of options when it came to maps, flashes and programmers. Sure there are several options now. For me it was money well spent to be able to keep riding. Sort of like all of the bikes now having charging problems with their stators. I'd buy an 08 used stator out of pocket just to keep my bike on the road as opposed to waiting on the warranty and the factory to figure it out. |
