Awesome! Congrats to Geoff and Erik and their team! Of course, as all squids know, since there was only one Buell in the field and it finished in the top three, they must have been cheating somehow! HellBuelly J |

To be completely honest with you guys, I wouldn't expect much if any press. It would go against all that they said last year. So now that Buell is winning on there terms they don't wanna say anything to make them look bad. |

He was in the Lucas oil GTO Superbike race. It is a support race with no rules run what brung hope you brought enough. None of the factory guys were there but a bunch of really good privateers. Race was won by Taylor Knapp on a GSXR 1000. When they mean no rules they mean it has to be a motorcycle if Blown below 750cc that's it. The race will probably not be on TV we get to read about it in Road racing world in a couple of months. |

hey Joshinga, what exactly did "they say" last year? was it something that would make "them" look like idiots for doubting the determination of Buell? also, and this question is for anyone, where can we find full video footage of races containing buells? e.g., the eslick victory(ies) to present Pegasusraceteam, and Geoff May. |

The thing to remember is Knapp is riding Mat Maladin's 09 championship bike. Riders Discount has some type of lease deal with Yoshi. So I would think that would be a real good bike that is pretty much a factory unit. |

>>>> It is a support race with no rules run what brung hope you brought enough. None of the factory guys were there but a bunch of really good privateers. It was an "anything goes" race and I think you need to check the BMW folks out . . there were 2 factory "works" bikes in the race making LOTS of power. It was neat to see what a "stocker than you may imagine" Buell could do against some top competition. It's a huge step forward I think. Weren't those Ducati 1098's the ones we were told the Buell "could never come close to"? |

46champ, does that mean all the riders in a support race are still competing for a slot in WSB as well as "making a name" for themselves? [lack of coverage] |

Kickstand what I meant was all of the BS that was spewed out of the press last year about how " Buell was cheating, Running a liter bike against 600cc because they cant win against the 1000's" and now that they are creeping higher and higher in the finish placement and now reaching the top 3 nobody wants to say " Ok guys maybe we were wrong about Buell" Some of the crap I see on other boards normally ends up something like this " ya I wish Buell all the luck in racing but the reality is they suck the company sucks and the only way they won is by having HD pay to bend the rule. But I hope they do well" I just recently got into a 3 page argument about this on another bored Im go to now and then the guy was trying to justify that Buell was cheating. He finally backed off when a few other Buellers on the board jumped in and proved all of his theories wrong. |

Six manufacturers in the top seven finishers is amazing. The only Buell in the race being on the podium is quite a testament to what, from a marketing standpoint should have been seen as a point of prestige; an American machine, able to take on the world's best, and kick ass. Why do I have the feeling that this is not over? |

Kickstand that's right the people who need to see them race are right there. I have a feeling that race wasn't a parade the people who care can figure out who is running above their equipment. |

So was this bike a full blown 1190 or the one with the 1125 replacement motor?? |

A 1125 motor was used; 1190s are still in short supply and the one dedicated to this race popped a head gasket. However, the 1190 fairing and radiator package was used, which is good for a significant top speed increase with the same power because of improved aerodynamics. The 1125RR that ran at Mid-Ohio and New Jersey would not have done so well with the long Miller straight-away. |

The 1190 would likely been enough to move the podium spot to the top position; as shown on the Erik Buell Racing website, it simply makes a substantial power increase everywhere. That doesn't make a huge difference on courses like Mid-Ohio and New Jersey were you already almost have more power than you can use (though it does allow you to be fully competitive on the short straights, so Honda riders don't block you in the corners ), but on courses such as Daytona, Elkhart, and Miller, it would very significantly reduce lap times. |

I was at the race with our "Utah Buell Riders Group" to support Eriks effort which was outstanding to say the least. On the second lap Geoff passed the second place rider to take that position just before a red flag because of some incident. Many "unlimited", (check Lucas Challenge rules), liter bikes were running. Then he fell back to finish third and on an "underpowered 1125 engine" as Erik said when I talked to him. He also said Millers is a high H.P. track and they were at a definite disadvantage. They were scrambling in the pit a very short time before green flag to just get the bike on the track. Michael said "we WILL be running". That kind of effort is surely outstanding! And boy, did they run. Congratulations to all involved, Erik, Michael and all the Elves and especially Geoff for a great ride. Its just the beginning............Bob |

I wasn't one to doubt Erik Buell Racing's capabilities with wsb contenders but I'm still blown away at how well it performed. Especially against the ducs and gsxrs. I wanna say last year? maybe the year before the 1125r was used in a literbike race up in Canada and still came in top 10. Even that was impressive to me. |
