Does the silencer insert make a noticeable difference in sound, power, etc? |

I didn't find a noticable difference in sound so I took it back out. They do sell a couple levels of silencers, I bought the middle one. |

I bought the insert that was supposed to have the smallest reduction in sound. The Barker is still loud but the insert cuts back on some of the pounding, reverberating exhaust note. There was no noticeable difference in power--but then again the average person's butt dyno probably wouldn't notice a horsepower gain or loss of just several percent. |

Does the silencer insert make a noticeable difference in sound, power, etc? Yes, depending on the quiet core. The 1" is the most restrictive which is also the quietest. The 1 5/8" isn't far off from the pipe without a core. The 1 1/2" is as you would expect inbetween the two. I swear my bike quieted down with the 1 1/2" core once the Fuel Solutions/Barker flash was installed. I suspect that when you see the exhaust shootout results that the Barkers is one of the quietest. I say that having heard a D&D, FMF, Erik Buell Racing and HMF. } |

To install the quiet core you just take the bolts out of the end cap right? If that's the case I'd probably go for the 1" for daily riding and take it out if the situation calls for it. What I'm shootin for really is a better sound without drawing too much attention from the law. |

Installed mine last week with the 1/5/8 insert sounds pretty good a bit "Tinny" though. I need to put the flash in and see what happens. I broke my shoulder in a crash the day i got the pipe so no riding yet |

mine has the 1 1/2" QC and it is loud enough to sound great but not so loud that you attracct unwanted attention we rode right through DOT check and the popo didn't even look at them. Also let me tell you with the FS barker specific tune the bike is a bit of an Extreme Fun animal |

Puzzled, there's 2 reason. First being simplicity and cost. Secondly I want to support Erik, and that's about the only part he has that I can use or have a use for. |

Craiga, are you selling the whole exhaust or just the insert? |

I started with the 1.5" quiet core in my Barker and was setting off car alarms in my office parking structure, so I switched to the 1" core. The 1.5" core has a nicer hot-roddy exhaust note and the butt dyno says the 1" doesn't pull quite as hard, but it's still much better than the stock bagpipe and it won't get me lynched by the neighbors. |

Yes but of course, the tea strainer is for polite people. |

The barker pipe looks to be a real quality piece. Best bang for the buck. |
