Something odd happened this Spring. I started getting nervous when the fuel light didn't come on at 130, then 135, then 140, then 145 miles. I thought "oh crap!" my fuel light is out and I could stop at any minute! Then...at about 152 miles....bam, it comes on. I now regularly get 150 miles before the light comes on. Apparently, I'm just now breaking her in?! This is at least a 10 miles jump from the next best I've ever experienced. |

After reading Froggy’s gas saving techniques, every time I ride and get on the gas I think to myself, I’m not going to get “Froggy Gas Mileage on this tank!” |

I did a search for Froggy's gas saving techniques, but could not find the thread. Can some one supply a link? |

Tow it with the speedometer cable linked to the trailer axle 240 miles before the gas light comes on is 66mpg. More realistic is 240 miles crusing range, which is 240 miles / 4 gallons = 60mpg. The bikes are rated for 64mpg highway, so it isn't like it is impossible. Some good info: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/559264.html |

Froggy, Thanks for the link. Interesting post. On my 06 Uly I could easily make 180 miles to the fuel light. On my 2010 Uly I saw 140 on the first frame of fuel to the light and I have been seeing a steady increase as the bike was breaking in. Now it has 2K miles on it and I am pretty regular at seeing the light at 160 miles. Not sure if this bike is going to get to 180 miles to the light in stock form like my 06. |

I get to 160 before the light during regular riding that includes getting on it every now and again with some stop and go. I get 180 before the light on longer steady rides. |

It will get 180 once its broken in. I borrowed a brand new 09 for a few days and got 180 miles before the light came on during my first tank. I am sure once broken in it would match my 06. |

08XT purchased new in sept '09. She has about 6900 miles and been pretty steady at 41-43 mpg. Guess my new girl is still pretty tight... Few thousand more miles should loosen her up a bit. |

My '10 Uly got 39 mpg. just over 300 mi on the clock. Maybe the latest (last) fuel map will give decent mpg, but hey its about the grin factor too |

I've been tracking the fuel mileage on my 08XT since new and the best I have got is 40.5 MPG. But I have never been to the dealer for a computer update. Now that I just moved to Hawaii last month I will take the bike in when it gets here. Until then I have a new wr250r that is getting insane mileage. I only filled it up once so far, it had over 90 miles on it and took 1.2 gallons. Cost me a little over 4 dollars to fill. I can tell this bike is going to be hard on the wallet. |

The Blast has a bigger motor and does better on gas than that (Oh and it shares the XB gaskets and filters) |

I consistently get to 164 miles before my fuel light comes on (usually within a couple tenths on the plus side for my '07. Only time it varies is when on long freeway trips with a head or tail wind. |

My mileage is getting better and better every tank. The last fill up was 47+ MPG and that was with a spirited ride up an 8000' mountain. I look forward to getting the manufacture claimed 64 MPG. (Message edited by badrap on June 03, 2010) |

My reserve light just went on today at 158miles. I havn't gotten better than 49mpg. I average less than 45mpg. It is still WAY-OFF the stated 65mpg. Thats a 15mpg difference..., an extra 66 miles per tank! I guess if I become anorexic and ride like grandpa I might hit 55+mpg. My mileage gets slightly better in spring/summer than fall/winter. I thought the stated 65mpg would be a juicy plus to owning this bike. But riding it more than makes up for the crappy mileage. (which isn't really crappy at all) Does that make sense? Just filled up and checked my mileage. Same as its been for a few months...167 miles/3.1gallons of gas. About 54mpg. I ride 83.5 miles a day, to the 10th of a mile, back and forth to work, 5 days a week. 90% freeway at 70-80 mph and 10% surface roads with a few traffic lights. 6' tall and 210lbs. |
