I was looking at my tires last night, and noticed my REAR is cupping. Seriously cupping. It's about in the midrange of the tire, lean-wise...not on-center, not on the shoulders, but kinda down the middle of each side if that makes sense. I'll get pics today if I can find my camera.

'06 Uly, 3 bags, suspension set the same way it has been since I bought it new (13k miles ago), same tires I've run since new (third rear tire, D616), and this is the first time I've seen a rear tire cup like this. 36F/38R pressures per the manual (same as I've done since I bought it), checked cold weekly with a digital gauge.

Rides fine, handles fine...but the pattern has me curious. I don't think it's a "616 thing" since I haven't seen it before on this bike on numerous tires beforehand... Maybe I should try 40psi in the rear?

I had that pattern on my Strada rears, think it's from the irresistable urge to dive HARD out of corners. Could also be damping adjustments?

Is the tired mounted in the correct direction of rotation?

My strada at over 9000 miles had that. Drove me nuts when I would come across uneven pavement height running parallel with me. Time to change tires, but, you already knew that.

Blue is always telling me I'm holding her back in the corners. I'm always reminding her we are on the street.

I had trouble with uneven wear on 3 different sets of tires.(all different brands) I would have to change the rear tire 2800-3000 miles due to strange wear. I would also have the same problem with the front but not nearly as pronounced.

I guess that I would have described the wear as "squared off" more than "cupped".

On a hunch I went to a different (new) service shop and had a new set of tires mounted and balanced. (I think that the tires were not balanced properly at the old shop.)

Problem solved. I am at 62XX miles on my current rear tires (Pilot Road 2) and it looks to be 60% worn. The front looks 30% worn. The wear is even.

BTW...tire pressure can also be a cause of uneven wear. I check my pressure before every ride.

Just swapped out the stradas for new angels. Was having the same issue I believe. Center tread depth would have gone another 6k but the area between there and the edge was seriously worn. Decided to do the swap when I noticed the same thing happening to the front. Always check air pressure, even upped the rear two psi when I first started to notice it (thinking it looked like under-inflation wear). The dual compound has to be the cause. Hoping the angels will at least wear evenly. Eventually want to zip a slice from the tire and post a pic.

My original 616 rear cupped like that(a lot of two up riding also). One of my reasons for going to the Syncs at that time. They never cupped, nor have the Pilot Road II's.

It did look a little soft over the weekend. Have you tried a different tire gage yet? Some of them can vary a few pounds.

Had my rear Strada replaced under warranty at 3k for that reason. Went to Syncs and have put 6.5k on them without any unsual wear. Should be good for another 2-3k.
