i'm quite confused now and yes, i used the search and read all about clutch leaks. i'm out of warranty time with my 08 1125r. i've got that damn clutch leak and the leak out the bleeder. now i wanna fix that by myself and i wanna make it with the latest and best parts for my problem. there is so much confusion about rev. a/b/c covers out there and i've found no clear and straight answer for my problem. what do i need to replace? is x2086.1am the answer to my problems with the 08r model (small black puck on clutch cover)? my clutch cover is slightly damaged from the brake-fluid, but still ok. do i need to replace the whole cover with all the parts from the diaphragm to the outside (i've got an 09 partsbook) with or without the x2086.1am? did this number superseded anyway? i need help, may someone here give me a short, clear answer to my problem. maybe a parts-list of what i need to order. and i'm not interested in stories of no-clutch-leak. i need a solution for this problem. my dealer wants 2000 bucks for the fix, kiss my a... the best thread to this subject by now was this one: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/554861.html?1271175016 according to this thread, x2086.1am is the fix for my problem, even with the first clutch cover. The clutch cover has nothing to do with it. Just get the X2086.1AM |

Dealer wants $2000.00 for the repair? I hope you meant $200.00. Wow! |

I have had the slow leak for almost 2 years, had it repaired once, and I kept waiting to see if they would ever offer a recall, but that did not happen. So, how hard is it to actually do this repair? Froggy, if I understand you correctly I can use my original clutch cover on my 2008 1125R (it was never replaced)? I'm going to change the oil soon and may just kill two birds with one stone.... |

Yes I have for both 1125R & 1125CR. Rather than taking it for warranty, I did it my self to save time. After inspecting all the parts, I think the kit X2086.1AM (<$220 on line) is unnecessary. The original piston, which has the teflon coating, appears to be better made than the replacement, which is just a naked aluminum. If you want to save some money, just buy the replacement teflon coated sleeve X0087.3AM + two new seals CF0007.1AMA (comes as a pair) + newly designed piston seals CR0001.3AM & CR0002.3A. These component should run about $100 (from on line source). Very easy to replace. Just PM me if you need specific instructions for the install. First one took a bit longer, but the second bike took about an hour, including the bleeding. So $2K is outrageous. |

A tip for everyone is to reduce the level of fluid in the reservoir so you can see air in the sight-glass after bleeding the system. My 08 (1500 ks) leaky cover was done under warranty but was full to the brim when I checked it at home. I syringed out fluid because its possible that too much fluid is the reason for failure. Someone else has mentioned this in other threads. I'm up to nearly 8000ks with no sign of trouble yet (touch wood!!) |

thanks dcmortalcoil, i've just ordered the parts you've recommended. thanks a lot for that. it seems, that the dealers in europe hate to service the 1125s, because they sold not many of 'em and simply have no idea about the works to do. he told me that and that i should go on and looking for another dealer/workshop for that machine. that's why he told me that. it's because this machine is a little bit special anyway. but just for the repair-kit (piston/sleeve) he wants 600 bucks. and the rest was to keep me away from his shop. i've already disasembled my whole machine and engine, so i should be able to fix that by myself. thanks for your help guys, saved me a lot of money. http://www11.file-upload.net/02.04.10/q8cr525d3umg.jpg (Message edited by cherry_bomb on May 31, 2010) |

anytime. btw, to take out the old sleeve, just tap it out with a large socket and hammer (lightly). There's an alignment notch to align the sleeve to the cover. To install, push it in with your hand and then tap it in to fully seat the sleeve. There should not be any gap between the sleeve end face and the cover. Make sure the notch is aligned before you tap it. They get easily out of alignment. |
