As some of you know and others will find out, I have been a Uly nut for while now. I had a 06 Uly that I had farkled and played on for a couple of years. I decided to move away from the 06 due to a long, long list of issues that kept cropping up with the bike. To be honest it would had left me stranded on all three of my long trips (think 3000+ miles) if it wasn’t for my paranoia and keeping a rather large tool kit with me. I had a 7 page history of warranty repair work alone on that bike with my local dealer. So flash forward 2 years and I currently own a 2009 Uly XT. I purchased this bike after the demise of Buell as a companion to my 2009 1125CR and 2008 Goldwing. I have since sold the Goldwing and I have the 1125 up for sale now and made the decision to purchase the 2009 Uly after deciding the 1125 wasn’t for me and the Goldwing was just being thrashed the way I was riding it as well as the wife started to fall away from touring with me. I went through a long period of romanticizing the old Uly and how fun it was and different it was from the other bike I had as well as the suspension. With all this issues I had with the 06, I was hoping an 09 Uly purchase would have all the issues sorted out. Well mark the mileage…. 2009 Ulysses XT New from Dealer (5 miles on the clock when purchased) @ 2855 miles: Headlight failure to ignite Clutch Cable holder broke (I thought there was a fix for this) Inspection cover leaking primary fluid Gear shifter shaft seal leaking primary fluid Oh yeah and thanks for letting me vent, you guys know I will work through all these new issues, but I am more than a little dissapointed. Slowride, I read your post and fell bad that you've had all these problems but I have an 2006 XB12X that has been damn near perfect in every way. Yes I've had a couple of flat tires, burnt out three headlight bulbs, broke a clutch cable, and replaced the brake pads but I really feel that is just common wear on any motorcycle. I feel like my Uly is a rock solid performing motorcycle and I wouldn't sell it or trade it for any new motorcycle out there. Mine's a keeper! |

the kickstand broke on my 2006. that was the only issue till I traded it on my 2008 1125R. 12/09 I bought a 2009 XB12X. I just missed the Uly too much. the only issue now, with the 09, is the 1125R is jealous |
