Hey y'all- Planning to head your way in a couple weeks to spend some time working up there and visiting friends and family. I'll be working mostly in the twin ports, but also in the twin cities and on the Mesabi Iron Range. Home base will be in the western suburbs (Excelsior), and also Duluth. I will have my City-x and my XB12XT with me. Who do you recommend using for Buell parts/service in the twin cities area? Does anyone ride to First Thursdays from the western suburbs? Looking forward to escaping the Florida heat and maybe meeting some MN badwebbers. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks! BeLinda. |

BeLinda (unusual spelling, I kind of like it!), I'm up in a NW burb, not far from Excelsior (Maple Grove). For parts, I get them where I can. Service, all done in the Mens Crisis Center (my garage). If you need anything, let me know. First Thursday at Dulonos is kind of fun. You never know what or who you will see. Usually some really neat old stuff there. I missed the last one but will make every attempt to hit the June one. The Crisis center is always open for business, even if its not.. Brad |

Groovy, thanks for the reply, Brad. Yep, my name and its unique spelling was my mom's choice. Not sure how a Finnish dad and Swedish mom settled on a hispanic name for me, but it can be kinda fun showing up for my bi-lingual and spanish 2 wheeled classes looking nothing like my name sounds. I'll still be in Florida for June's First Thursday, maybe I can catch it in July. Are there any other bike events that y'all attend? B. |

Matt, fill me in on the details! I may be able to assemble a crew for the ride. There are at least 5 of us "old schoolers" in my immediate vacinity. 4 - S2's and an M2 or S1! Could throw a Uly in there too.. Brad |

Sounds good, CZ, I'll send you a pm when I get to town. Had a guy from Grand Marais in my class last weekend who reminded me to pack my long johns for those types of rides! B. |

From GM I might know the guy, did he go to high school in GM? |

I think he was born n raised in GM, but prolly graduated in the 1950's. But, he had a son that prolly graduated in the mid-90s and lives in Mpls. After being away for so long, it's easy to forget how everyone knows everyone way up there. |

I live in Brooklyn Park, the next city east of Brad I do all my own service, have a Uly, XB9s and an X1 in my garage...I also maintain my brother's City-X and friend's Firebolt. I use Liberty for parts usually, which of course is not local! If I need something here, the guys at Zylstra in Elk River have been good to me. Keep my info handy in case you need anything! |

Andy, Ya wanna come over an fix my Uly fork seal? That way I can go riding today instead of working on someone elses Buell for a change. Seems I spend more time working on other folks Buells than I do riding my own! I too use Liberty. They give discounts, Zylstra and SPHD don't. I use American Sport Bike whenever I can. Andy, you wouldn't happen to have a 43mm fork seal driver would you? Brad |

hey Brad- sorry, no seal driver. When I rebuilt the forks on the lightning, I assembled everything and took them to Zylstra. They drove the seals in for $20. They have some Buell nuts in their shop which is pretty cool! do you actually have something you'd like help with? I'm free for a bit this morning |

Got your info Andy. Will keep it handy and thanks!! So, Zylstra is where I should plan to bring the Uly if I need to have warranty work done? Looking forward to meeting y'all. Have a great holiday weekend, get out and ride if you can! BeLinda. |

IMO, yes. Zylstra has treated me very well. However, Wild Prairie is pretty good too, and will be much closer to where you will be staying. I would consider keeping contact info handy for both- they do not like to refer to each other for parts, so you have to call them both sometimes to find in stock parts! |

Hey B The misses and I are on the east side of town in Maplewood. We to do our own maintenance too since IMHO the local dealers couldn't find their butts in the dark w/o a flashlight.Renee has an XT also. Got a work ride going on Sun the 6th if your in town. 40-50 mixed brands leaving Woodbury @ 8:30 for the S.W. WI. bluff roads. Dinner in Wabasha late afternoon. Let us know if you want to ride or see some live muzak whence you arrive. Dennis |

Hey Dennis- Cool beans man! I won't be able to make the 6th ride, prior committment here in the Sunshine state, but definitely keep me in mind for future rides and live muzak. Hear the Jayhawks will be in town soon, but that may be the same time frame as homecoming. I remember it being a challenge picking which cool thing to do while living up there in the summer, not a bad problem to have! Fear not, I get the feeling you know about other lesser known quality bands if the Jayhawks is not an option. And your better half has an XT? Does it get any better than that? I'll pm ya when I get into town. B. |

Andy, naa, I got it handled. Good thing I didn't do the fork seal right away, after the ride on Saturday, I niticed the right one is now leaking. I've got the parts, just need to find the time to do the fix. I may just order a 43mm driver and add to my collection. I have lots of them, just not a 43mm. If I had my old lathe up and running, I'd just make one... just another item on the never ending "to do" list. Brad |

Speaking of music, if you like blues, there's the Blues Saloon a couple blocks away from me in Frogtown. Tuesday night they have jam sessions, some pretty good talent. A friend of mine and his wife usually show up. Brad, you know him, Ted Vig. As for First Thursday, I'm there for most of them. |

Hey guys, I'm in town, and waiting for the better half to arrive from sunny FL on the Uly. It's been a week since I've been on a Buell so I'm pretty excited to both of them (him and the bike). If you see a soggy lookin' dude on a blue uly heading towards the western 'burbs today, give him a wave. BTW what's up with this rain? Not that its a big deal, it is BAD weather bikers, after all . |

I'll keep you posted, Charlie Zulu. I was teaching in Duluth this past weekend but had no bike . I was supposed to be back up in a couple weeks but those plans got changed, so I may not be heading back up north 'til closer to the Fourth of July. Thankfully, my Uly was delivered to me in the twin cities yesterday, so I'm hoping my bikeless time up here is a rapidly fading memory. |

Welcome to MN! The rain will go away...this has been an unusually rainy and cold June... Are you going to Homecoming? You're SO close now! |

I know. I'd be lame if I missed it since I am actually not working this weekend. I've been out of the HC loop because I was actually hoping to pick up a class this weekend or plan b go see the Jayhawks at First Ave. If I am unable to commit to the full on homecoming shindig, maybe I could ride part of the way down there. When r u guys leaving the metro area? |

Friday morning. You can ride down to Nelson with me, my fiance Sam and Metaldude. That's where we will be joining the rest of the group for this ride: http://tinyurl.com/NelsontoHomecoming I don't have a banquet ticket for you, but I do have a spare concert ticket that you can have! |

Wow, seems the motorcycle goddesses are smiling on me, everything seems to have fallen into place on the childcare front. Looks like I'll be able to make it to HC! I'm so fortunate to have friends and family around. Andy, I'd love to take u up on the concert ticket. This is so last minute, but I have a camping accomodations I can use, or just pack my sleeping bag and possibly couch surf. I'll check around and see if anyone may split a room, maybe just for the night of the concert so I can be close to the action. I used to spend much time in Milwaukee so I may try to get in touch with people I used to work with and squeeze in a visit with them. But, as of now, I'll plan to join up with Andy n crew on the way down to the breakfast stop. I'm close to Hwy 494 and 7, where is a convenient meeting spot for y'all on this side of town? Looking forward to it! BeLinda. |

Great! We are planning to meet here: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0 &msid=118109049374628321985.00048886c1d331fdb14a2& z=19 at 5:30 (which will likely be about 5:40 ). It's on the other side of town from you, but should be easy to get to from where you are (494 south, which turns into 494 east, then south on 10/61, then exit on Glen Road). There will now be 4 of us riding from there to Nelson to meet the rest! |

Well, not nearly as fun as HC, but I ended up riding in Zulu's neck of the woods again this past weekend. Rode the uly up to Duluth to help my niece plan her wedding, then on to Eveleth to visit more family, retrieve my son's full face helmet and and flog the city x after the one cylinder in the rain incident. She fired right up...yay! |
