I assume you have the Force exhaust? The O2 sensor is in the WORST position on those pipes. You either need to get creative, get a crows foot wrench or get an offset O2 sensor wrench. |

Some heat (ideally a small set of oxy/acetylene torches, but a small propane torch or map gas will work) and some good rust penetrant (mopar makes a good one, and we use aerokroil at work) Heat around the bung in the header and a bit on the base of the sensor, get it warm to hot and then spray the penetrant on. The heat helps expand the parts, and allows the rp to work it's way into the threads some. Repeat as much as you feel is necessary, you want to give it time to work it's way in. Other than that, a GOOD crows foot (cheap ones will just spread), an offset socket like suggested, or I have a modified 7/8" deep socket that I use for just the bike. My normal o2 socket won't clear the head with the bosch sensor. Good luck. |

Just be aware...lots of penetrant, and you may as well buy a new sensor. They don't like chemicals. Turboglh - should I ask? Have an 86 GLHS project, 87 CSX project, 89 CSX show car, and am working on rebuilding a friends' 91 Spirit R/T |

If clearance is a problem, break the top off the sensor, leaving only the hex, remove pipe, remove sensor, get new a sensor, they're cheap |

Absolutely a new sensor. @ratbuell of course, had two turbo glh's, a carbed hi compression 84 and a 87 shelby lancer. All the old cars are gone now, just have the srt4 now. |

Ya, used to have an 87 SL leather/auto as well. The R/T I'm rebuilding is one I used to own. Also had a slew of turbo drivers - 89 Spirit ES, couple Daytona Shelby's - and still own the first new car I ever bought, a one-of-150 (total; one of 26 with options) documented '91 Daytona CS/AGS Competition Package car with 74k original miles. If I have my way, I'll be buried in that car |
