Happened in turn 9. Baaaad juju!

Turn 9 at Willow

Here is a video of the scrape. Watch the wiggle in the cam as the back tire steps out at 120 mph. Got my attention!

I'm waiting on the pricing info for polishing. I will be sending out a pipe for them to do a test run on for the time/materials charges.

Are you wanting one?

I have not tested it yet, but based on the previous designs, I'd guess a minimum of 15 hp after 7500 rpm up to 10k rpm. It sounds better than it looks, this one is the prototype.
I'm running about 2-3 weeks out. I will not be fabricating anything for 2 weeks in June. Homecoming and school for work from the 15th through the end of the month.

Same thing happened to my HMF at Eastern Creek turn 9 very annoying, can you ship an Rt3 to Aus, d_adams?

I would need it prior to the third weekend in June which is the next race.

Shipping to AU isn't cheap. PM me, we'll see if we can sort something out. I think the last UPS quote to there was outrageous, maybe $300 or something like that. Even USPS isn't cheap and it's kinda slow.

Rodrob, pm me.

bag the polishing, too much like chrome for a Buell. Make it black with polished or brushed tips/outlets. Or, just leave it natural and let it bronze with heat.

I can't wait to hear one at Homecoming if it'll be there : ) I like my CR with the stock can on it - it's nice to go for a ride without my ears ringing for hours afterwards - but I also love my S2 with the race muffler because the frequencies don't resonate in my helmet. If the RT4 doesn't resonate....the ol' wallet could be in trouble : )

I agree with Rat - just leave it. A black ceramic coat may be too much trouble as well as $$.

Sent my pm earlier - but just so you know I am calling "dibs" on the next one!

Dean I am thinking you just couldn't top yourself and then you go and make the rt4. You should be ashamed of yourself for making sucha cool looking exhaust. I also agree with leaving the polishing off and just do a black to match the engine. Would help with cost and turn around time. Do you have a sound bite off this one?

The FMF slip-on has this problem too.
I cured the problem by adding an extra 6mm spacer to the original spacer. Left me with a clearance to the tire of aprox. 4mm and to the the swingarm of 1 mm. to none. After the alteration it did not scrape the road anymore apart from the pegs on both sides.

scraped FMF

D, what is the distance from the bottom of the engine to the outside bottom edge of the pipe for the RT-3 & 4? I need to check clearance on my bellypan.

Skntpig: This is a 6mm thick M10 nut for now and a 10mm longer bolt than the one supplied by FMF. Could not find a better solution yesterday at the track. Next week I will make me a longer spacer to replace the original one.

4" below the footpeg bracket, same on the kickstand side from the kickstand bracket.
I don't have an RT-3 here at the moment but will later this week. Dimensions should be the same though. If you need it, I can make a 3.5" diameter can and shorten it also, but it would be exceptionally loud.

I stopped the scraping Issue with my HMF by adding 3-4+ notches of preload at the back to raise it up a little, had to add 2 clicks of compression at the rear but now I haven't had the problem since, this is probably the easiest/cheapest method.

I too agree with the keda rt-3...

never been on the track but it has tons of clearance and it certainly , makes power.

I would prefer to not adjust the handling of my bike to suit the exhaust.
