Do you find it worthwhile having two bikes? I'm worried one will just sit, or when I'm on one I'll wish i was on the other... I still love my xb12scg, but there's a Duc with my name all over it right now. | ||

i have two and i ripped the xb in pieces and powdercoated everything. so having the cr makes it nice to ride every day. | ||

That happens but they never sit to long though. I try to buy the other machines as different as possible to the current bike but it never works out that way I like a certain type of bike and always end up with a similar style. There is also the tires are worn I'll take the other bike rule | ||

i usually buy 1 or 2 a year. and once i get a faster one i get bored with the others so they end up sold. last year i had 5 at one time and the garage was a mess. my xb and cr are bad ass and ill never sell them. | ||

hence the name nevrenuf. between the wife and i, we have one for every day of the week. the only problem is sumday's bike doesn't run right now. but sumday it will. just don't know when. also realized that the firebolt isn't for me and if i can trade it for a cr, i'd probably be happier. Every bike I've gotten rid of, for whatever reason, I've never failed to regret it. If I don't have to, I'll never, ever, get rid of another bike. Even if it does gather a little dust from time to time. | ||

Magic number for me has been three- a track bike, a sport bike, and a standard. Each has a battery tender and gets Sta-bil ethanol treatment- so they can sit as long as necessary. The track bike is for the real fun, the sport bike is for "sporty" street rides, and the standard/naked is for everything else. The trilogy will also work with a cruiser substituted for one of the street bikes, if that's what does it for you. I've had more, and I've had less- but three is just right. Oh, and it's kind of neat that there's a v-twin, a triple, and an I-4 included... got all the bases covered. | ||

I have an 1125r and an XB9. When the newness of the 1125 wore off I found myself missing my 9. I think the 9 makes a better city bike and the 1125 if for my longer journeys of cold weather. Oddly enough the air cooled bike tolerates the hot city stoplight to stoplight traffic better than my watercooled bike. Plus both bikes have a different character. Im not always in the same mood. | ||

can you have to many?! and i never seem to let any of them sit for very long... although i have rearranged the fleet a bit over the last couple years.      they dont really ever collect dust, but they do get dirty!!!!   i picked up a little pocket rocket to play on too but dont have any pics of that yet. its nothing special. 65 bucks at a yard sale and about 15 minutes and had it running. it does nice slides when you lock up the rear  (Message edited by no_rice on May 21, 2010) | ||

Yeah I have 2 bikes and 1 just sits, its not even at my house. However when you have a choice to ride a 130HP turbo Lightning or a 15HP Honda Rebel its an easy choice. I say pick 1 bike and focus on that. | ||

I have 2 and I ride them both. Not equally, but that's my choice. If you can afford to keep both on the road, then I see nothing wrong with it. Also, there are times when the toughest decision I make all day is which bike to ride. A hard choice that still makes me happy either way. | ||

I have three. My XB is the everyday street fighter, than I have an older BMW for "touring", and another yet older BMW project bike that may become a "Café Racer". The Buell gets the most use, but the others are important and enjoyable to me. For me the limiting factor is space and buying insurance. I would like to add a Triumph Thruxton and a Moto Guzzi to my garage, but have no more room. | ||

I just sold my Harley Night Train, but maybe next year or the following year I'm going to pick up a Street Bob so I will have a Harley again as well as my Buell. | ||

well thanks for the input. I'm now a happy mutli bike owner. Ducati s4r to complement the xb12scg. I know it's a similar bike, but definitely not a similar ride. Liquid cooled, quite a bit more HP, 6 speed, chain drive, dry clutch. | ||

Good move; congrats on the Duc. I'm a huge fan of having multiples. I find that three streetbikes is about the right number for me. Between that and the cars, lawnmowers, & other stuff, all you end up doing is changing oil in something. Multiples are handy if one is going to be down for maintenance, there's no huge rush to be done just so you can get back to riding. The real trick is not to tear into projects on both at the same time. However, do as I say, not as I do. There are more than 3 in the shop now . . . Hemicbx | ||

Disclosure: I only read the initial question and none of the responses. I have two VERY different motorcycles, each one fulfilling a different purpose. Both get ridden quite a lot, though one does get significantly more miles every year due to its nature. I don't know if the same would be true if I owned two sport bikes, or two touring bikes. At one point in time I DID own two touring bikes, but I got rid of one to get my first Buell (back in 2000 when I got my M2 Cyclone). I put on roughly twice as many miles per year on my K1200LT than I do on my 1125R, but that's only because when I do ride the K1200LT the rides tend to be a lot longer. I average around 20K miles a year total. As always, YMMV. | ||

Yeah, I had only one bike for years, my XB9R. Love it. Got a Uly XT last fall and really love that too. Rode both of them quite a bit the last few weeks. Thinking that I need a track bike to round everything out. It's a good thing I haven't won the lottery or I'd need a Jay Leno garage to hold them all. | ||

I have been thinking of getting a second bike and if I do, it will be completely different from the Buell. I would certainly love to have liquid cooled v-twin with an Italian transmission. I love my Buell, but an Aprilia 1000 R would be an excellent second bike. Completely different animal. | ||

Yeah, multiple bikes here as well. All kind of all different though -'081125R, '99 Sporty and a '77 Suzuki project that will either be a cheapo bobber or drag bike. Insurance and reggy on the H/D and 'Zuki are cheap enough that I don't even worry if I don't ride them! | ||

Hey, what's this "man needs" stuff?  Between the hubby and me, we've got six bikes. I've been the instigator on purchasing all but two. The Thruxton was all his idea, and he finally came out of the closet as a full-on Bueller for the XT purchase. All our bikes get ridden on a regular basis. Different bikes for different types of riding. Here's an "If/then" statement pertaining to the matter (who said I was not paying attention in my college Fortran class?) If we had: a. a bigger garage and b. a bigger budget then we'd have c. a bigger collection of bikes. It's nice to have spares while maintenance is being done on one or more and to hook up our visiting friends with a bike while they are here. BeLinda. | ||
