We certainly did have a great time! Check out the NorthWest Washington StormFronts thread for more on it. I also posted a couple of pictures. Got to prep the ton of photos I took on the ride. Was great!!! More later, Lo |

Border Raid. Good idea. I booked an extra day off at work. Somebody please start the ball rolling and get some hotel info, etc. I quit early last year with a rocker-box leak. I wanta do it all this year. Lo your Canadian Brag ride photo's on your website look awesome too. I hope they do it again next year, that really looked like fun. |

Hopefully there'll be no mechanical (or other) problems. A few people had to turn back last year... bummer. I've been looking at hotel info quickly this evening. The hotel we stayed at for the BRAG ride was alright, The Coast Whistler Inn. Last year for BorderRaid we stayed at The Listel, going for $119 for 2 queen beds. The Coast Whistler Inn is $115 for a king or 2 double beds. You have to pay $10 for parking - 2 bikes per stall. Here's a link http://www.hellobc.com/bcescapes/accommodations/hoteldetails.asp?_reg_code=RWHIS TLER&city_code=&id=WHWF1&in_month=08&in_day=30&in_year=2003&out_month=08&out_day =31&out_year=2003&availCode= (I hope the link works) As for Osoyoos, I'm not sure where everyone has stayed before, if the place is nice and if people want to go to the same one. But here's a link to some options: http://reservations.canadianhotelguide.com/nexres/reservations/availability.cgi? hotels_id=10223570&ses=afa4e018a92cf4122da6814c9c76142921841&src=10005072&doa_mm =08&doa_dd=30&dod_mm=08&dod_dd=31&num_adults=2&num_children=0&num_rooms=1&bed_ty pe=QUEEN&num_beds=2&smoking_pref=NP&corp_acct_number=&freg_gust_number=¤cy _id= Not sure how quickly rooms will book up, so we'd best not dawdle on this guys. I vote for Kelowna, via Barnardville Road and the Westside Road. Followed the next day by Green Mountain Road to split up at Osoyoos to go south or west, as the case may be or the wind blows. |

Sounds good Eric, especially the roads you described in the NorthWest thread. We'd make sure to follow you this year. Guess we should look at rooms for Kelowna then. This morning were heading up Squamish while Brent test rides a new BMW. Man, that didn't take long did it? He loves the 1150GS Adventure, but admits it's physically too big to handle at parking lot speed. (And Cindy has the bruises to show for it!) Ride on... LO |

Yes, but usually the gang meets in Vancouver Friday afternoon and those that can't just catch up with everyone in Whistler for Friday evening. The ride usually starts bright and early on Saturday morning. If we want to do the entire day (from Whistler to Kelowna, around Green Mountain pkwy then to Osoyoos) it will take about 9 hours! Now we have an option to stay Sunday night in Kelowna, however will the next day be too long of a ride for our American friends to get home? (Just thinking out loud) Input, people... we need input! I was also enquiring about group rates - if we get more than 16 participants we can get a better rate at hotels. I'm waiting to hear back. We have options, but I'd like to get the rooms booked asap. Ride on... LO edited by additude on July 24, 2003 |

Actually, I think Lo has it slightly wrong. Whistler is Saturday night, and Kelowna (??TBD??) would be Sunday night, so that us 9-to-5ers can be at in our own beds Monday night to get up for work on Tuesday morning. Monday is the holiday up here as well. |

Okay, here's the numbers to reduce confusion. August 30, 2003 - Saturday - Stay the night in Whistler. August 31, 2003 - Sunday - Ride our asses off and stay the night either in Kelowna, Penticton or Osoyoos. September 1, 2003 - Labor Day Monday - Everyone heads home. Those with school age kids will have to boogy home in time to get them up for school the next morning (aka Tuesday). That's another reason I was concerned for those heading south that have kids to consider. There. Whew, well better to be "slightly" wrong than totally wrong. Thanks for your continued pointing out of my mistakes John. (You just wanted it written in stone and floating in the archives forever and forever, right?!) |

Does that mean you'll be joining us for the entire ride this time Buellbob? That'd be cool! We've just got the sitter lined up for that weekend. So everything's a go!

So have we decided on a place in Whistler that we all will be staying at? I can't wait, I also miss everyone! We should get something going for the winter months so it is not so long of a time that we are together. Loni |

Hi everyone, I sold my house and I'm renting a basement suit with no phone or cable yet. You all have been so helpfull with Border Raid and I have to thank you, especially Lo. I really missed out on SPLASH and hopefully I'll make all three days for Border Raid. I've ridden for about 15 minutes and I think the S2 might get ape hangers. My wrist doesn't bend like it used to, it's kinda like havin a governer. I'll have lunch for everyone on Saturday and can't wait to get see you all again. Jim, it's good to hear that you're gonna make it! Stuart Wells, Deeley's House of Buell. |
