For the past 6 weeks I have been watching an oil leak running down the backside of my rear cylinder on my 07 XB12S. I took it to the dealer, they said it was the PCV valve. They put RTV around the valve, which I wouldn't really call a fix! Since then I have been watching the leak and it is still leaking, but not from the breather. After every ride I get on my knees with a flashlight and check out the leak, there always is a drip hanging on the fin right below the rocker box, I check around the breather and there is not trace of oil. So I am pretty sure that it's the gasket and never really was the breather. Anyways, will the engine need to be removed to replace the rocker box gasket or can it be done by just rotating the engine? It's under warranty so the only reason I ask is because I would like to know how long the fix will take the techs. Also, can the rear PCV valve be taken out easily without rotating the engine? not sure on the clearance with the X-brace above it. Looks like it pulls right out of the grommet? Just thought I'd ask before I damage something. (Message edited by jeffroj on November 06, 2008) |

I know this is a really old post but I am having the same issue on my 07 xb12stt. Did the dealership replace both gasket and the PCV valve? Did this solve the issue? Unfortunately I am not under warranty and might attempt to fix this leak myself... |
