Up to about 12K miles now and it's my favorite bike. Been riding since 1983 and have owned a Ulysses and currently own an X-1. It's a bike I intend to own and ride until I am physically incapacitated. I really don't see parts and service being an issue. I can still get parts for my 1979 Triumph Bonneville...so why would the 1125r suddenly become impossible to repair or maintain just because the parent company is no longer in business?

Happy...very happy. I had a '99M2 and stopped a Moto Guzzi Griso deal to buy the CR on discount. I recently sold my M2 now that the CR is growing on me. That leaves the CR, FJR, and Super X.

I have not had to do anything to the CR other than cosmetic upgrades and a high bar kit using Rizoma bars.

The bike would sometimes stall when new, but since the first oil change the bike runs flawless. I suspect the bike had to 'learn' the setup and adjust to it.

The bike runs great, always starts, is fast as hell, and hasn't given my any concerns. I have to get it in for the harness patch, but that's it.

I was very happy buying this bike and feel real sad that less than 9k people will really get to know how good the bike is. Eveyone 'says' they want to buy American and like the idea of an American sport bike, but only a few actually bit the bullet and bought one.

Agreed Kirb... its is sad that not many of these bikes sold : (

I bought both of my Buells at full sticker price (3 months after I bought my 1125 Buell got the axe and the prices got slashed... grrr).

Having said that... I wonder how many owners reallllly love these bikes or bought them simply because of the deep closing discounts...?

I asked a guy why he bought 2 (he got an R, CR) at the slashed price point... did he buy them because he genuinely loved the Buells or because of the sticker. His answer was "A little bit of both"...

sooo... makes sense but I do wonder if the Barracuda would have seen the light of day and if Buell would still be around if all these "Price Cut" Buell riders would have been genuine Buell riders from go...?

The fire sale was a definite motivating factor in buying an 1125R. I had test ridden an 1125R back in '08 when I was looking for something to replace my '03 GSX-R1000 as the liter-class bike in my stable. I liked the 1125R but didn't think it felt like a $12K bike. (I bought my GSX-R1000 new in '03 for $9K OTD so I had pretty high expectations of what kind of bike $12K should get me.)

I ended up buying an '03 SV1000S in '08 to replace the GSX-R, mostly because I wanted a v-twin sportbike and I really liked the SV650S I'd bought for my wife. When the 1125 prices got cut, I saw the chance for me to sell my SV and buy a new 1125R and be less than $1000 out of pocket after selling the SV.

So, did I buy the bike because I love Buells or because it was cheap? A little bit of both. Would I have considered replacing the SV with a used 1125R in a year or two when their values had come down, if the fire sale hadn't happened? It's certainly possible. Likely, in fact. I really can't think of a better used v-twin sportbike in the sub-$10K price range.

I'd considered an Aprilia RSV1000R but the 1125R wipes the floor with the Priller. I also liked the Ducati Monster S4RS but nice used ones are still close to $10K and they've got their share of quirks. I like the 1098, but the damn thing is a torture rack to ride, and still pretty pricey. There's the RC51, but it's an old, heavy bike. Same for the VTR1000. What else is there for $10K or less, used?

btw... I didn't mean to imply anyone who bought a Buelly during the fire sale doesn't really genuinely like them. Even at slashed prices 7~8+ k is quite the investment for your average joe... especially for a motorcycle.

Prior to the firesale, I was looking at Buells I *could* afford. I really wanted the 1125R, but I also really liked the Firebolt.. after a couple years I was planning to jump on one of those, or maybe wait for a new Buell model.

MSRP on the 1125R in Canada was almost 15k iirc.. almost the cost of my car. I'm sure you could've bargained that down, though, since they weren't the hottest selling items.

I bought the first 1125R in Colorado, #154 for $13.3k.
Her name is Loretta and she has 24.8k miles on her.
Most amazing, most fun ride I have ever owned.

She'll be getting a few less miles tho, as I picked up an 09 Uly last week for 2-up and commuting.

I'm seriously considering doing that... how do you like it? I'm just concerned about the whole "Long term Buell parts availability" thing.

I always wanted a Buell since I would go to the dealer as a kid with my father (HD guy) and would look at the sporty bikes. My 1125CR was my first bike, bought last year 12,500.00. But I love it and with the exception of the new S1000RR wouldn't want any other bike.

Zac4mac\... Syonyk...

I love having 2 Buells in the stable for many reasons... they both offer a unique experience per riding needs...

my XB12S is my workhorse commuter... my 1125 is my "bike night" weekend fun bike. Although in many ways I feel as if the Bulldog lookin toughness vibe of the XB looks better than the 1125... the 1125 is just pure power with very unique style.

Having both bikes keep the miles spread out between them... especially if you ride a ton (22K miles in just over a year and a half for me).

Syonyk... I'd roll with it... 6~ish years is still a great amount of time for part support... especially since we'll all be trading some of our Buellys in on whatever\ whenever Erik gets back into making production bikes in a year or 3 : )

I sold my 1125R two weeks ago for more than I paid for it. I wouldn't have tried it if it weren't for the bargain price, but I thought it was a lot of bike for the money (which it is). It just wasn't what I was looking for in a street bike. For those who enjoy their 1125s, that's cool. I do think it would have been really fun on the track. The day after I sold the Buell, I picked up a Ducati Multistrada the next day and I have no regrets. It's an extremely fun bike to ride.

As a side note, about a month before I sold the bike, I took it to the local Buell dealership and they said they would order the charging system update for it and call me when it was in. It's been 6 weeks and I haven't heard a thing.

Did not like them when they had HD powerplants. I had a 2004 RC51 for years then got a 2007 CBR600RR, thought i would like the lighter weight at jennings gp. Hell no hated that no torque 600. I rode a 2008 1125R and was hooked. Sold the 600 in Oct 2009, headed to PA from Tampa FL, walked out of there with a brand new 1125R for 5500 out the DOOR. I haven't looked back since.

I used to think I didn't like them when they had HD powerplants, but now that I have an XB (and a CR) I think the thunderstorm is a delightful motor. It doesn't feel like any HD I've ever ridden. Dismissing it as an HD motor does it a great disservice, IMHO...

Starting to miss Loretta.
She's across the road in my neighbor's garage, been riding the Uly, trying to get used to the height.

Imminent is the 25k service and a new front tire.
First front lasted 20k, this one has 5k and it's almost slick.
Lucked into a set of new take-off Corsa IIIs for 200, the rear is already mounted.

Supposed to warm up and dry out, maybe tomorrow we ride again.

Bought my 08R for 11,900. At first, I felt like I was robbed...the heat, the really hard front springs, the clutch weep, but the motor was (an is) a monster. Bought a 09R during the firesale for cheap. Not sure why but the 08R is waaayy faster than the 09 which has 1100 miles. The 09 is pretty much perfect. Everything on the 08 is fixed and is great. She has 13k and runs better than when new. If I wasn't getting deployed, I'd gladly keep both.
