I have an 08 1125R that I am getting ready for the track. I am putting on the factory chain conversion swing arm. Is it possible to put studs in the rear wheel to make sprocket changes quicker? | ||

Yes it is. Threaded rod is available in almost all sizes both metric and American. Be sure to use at least Grade 5, Grade 8 would be better. Saw off the rods to the correct length if you don't have access to a lathe. Chamfer the ends and then use locktite on the ends that go in the wheel. If you can't find acorn nuts the correct thread then jam two regular nuts together to drive the studs into the wheel. After further thought on this project you might want to see if the bolt holes are thru or blind. If they are thru I would say forget about it because there's really no way to get the studs tight. If the holes are blind I'd say go for it. Many wheel hubs are hollow to save weight. KK |
