Tonight i bought a bottle of Meguiar's Hot Wheels cleaner. The carbon on my rear wheel did not come off... it turned white. I was disgusted. I decided I was gonna try to spot clean areas with Carb cleaner. When I go to the shelf in my garage, I discover I'm out of carb cleaner. Out of desperation, I spotted a bottle of K&N air filter cleaner and thought I'd give it a try. Amazing results. Sprayed it on and the suds immediately turned redish brown. I wiped a sponge across the wheel and they were spotless. Rinsed and towel dried and my wheels look brand new. | ||

Just wondering have you ever tried Simple Green. A friend of mine uses it for his harley and swears by it | ||

I've personally used Simple Green and Purple Power at full strength and neither of them put a dent, even with scrubbing, in my rear wheel. I hadn't cleaned it in months and the brake dust was baked on. The ONLY thing that worked was Westley's Bleche Wite. It melted the baked on stuff right off. | ||

This makes good sense! Its carbon right? I'm going to give the KN filter cleaner a try. My wheel is black. | ||

Anybody! Will K&N air filter cleaner screw with the clear coat. I have some sitting around. | ||

Some of the guys I used to work with at Summit Racing swore by oven cleaner. They said it didn't harm the clear coat found on some aluminum wheels and isn't much stronger than nail polish. | ||

The meguiar's turned the carbon white, the K&N filter cleaner removed the carbon effortlessly. I'll bet oven cleaner would work great. No damage to my finish, made sure to rinse well. | ||
