Thanks Kirby, that is a pretty good deal. I am still trying to see if I can make this a warranty issue, but I am getting pretty sick of calling around and getting nowhere. I rode a bit today with no problems. Anyone who has had this fixed under warranty have any suggestions? I have called HD customer service, but that proved to be a useless effort. Is there some magic phrase I can use, or do I just have to drive hundreds of miles to a buell certified dealer that actually cares about customers? All I have said to anyone is, "I know belts are catagorized as a wear item, same as brake pads and tires. This belt is broken at 7000 miles, and that isnt 'worn out.' I feel it has broken prematurely and it should be replaced as faulty, not worn. If my brake pads were toast after 500 miles, I would feel the same way." |

Your analogy is not a good one. Your belt is worn, not worn out. It still works, but probably not as well as one that is intact/new. Whether a belt is replaced under warranty or not is a judgment call that can only be made by the dealer since they are the only ones authorized to perform warranty work. If your dealer isn't willing to be your advocate on the matter, then it's very likely that you'll end up paying to replace it yourself. If so, and if you have any mechanical aptitude, it would behoove you to buy the belt and the service manual (if you don't already have it) and do it yourself. |

The belt can be swapped out while on the side-stand. Pretty easy, I did it in my garage with the tools I regularly carry in a little less than an hour. If you haven't found a dealer that will warranty it, do it yourself soon. Z |

Cham, I also have an 1125R and I've got 14,000 miles on the belt thus far. I trust the belts. I'm also very careful about how I take my wheels on and off as well as checking it before each ride and after. I would have more miles on the 1125R and my XB9SX, but being military doesn't lead to me being able to ride each and every day as I'm sometimes not home where I can take my bike to work. |

Ryan, the sacrifice of your riding for the good of our country is appreciated. I think I just need to be better about making sure the belt and sprocket on my bike are clean and free of debris. |

Put a couple hundred miles on it today, no issues. Riding gently is absolute torture though, like break-in all over again. I think I might order a set of tires next week, and just replace the rear a bit early. |

Archived, bummer. Put another 300 or so on it today, making over 500 since i noticed the damage. Doesnt appear to be getting worse. |

Belt was replaced under warranty! Props to Bergdale HD in Albert Lea, MN! I ended up with 600 or so miles on the above pictured belt (after I noticed the damage) without it getting any worse before it was replaced. Im sure no one cares anymore, but if someone is to stumble upon this in the future, they can read it with some closure. |
