just completed top end overhaul, taken it for about ten mile ride and its boggy until around 3500 then takes off and smooths out. plugs are black from too much fuel. stock except v&h muffler. any ideas? |

Run it at around 3500 RPMs for at least 5 miles to let the ECM learn the environment. That should normalize the AFV and get it to run right at lower engine speeds providing nothing is out of whack sensor-wise. |

What else has been done other than the muff & top end job? Is it possible that the O2 sensor has somehow got disconnected or the Head Temp Sensor got messed up inadvertently or the air filter is clogged? |

the o2 sensor was unplugged at overhaul, but has been reconnected since. after some reading i found that the engine temp sensor is located in a different spot. 99 they were on the side of the head, 2000 they moved to the center. my new head has it in the center. could this be a problem? you'd think once operating temp is up it wouldn't matter unless its not in the ecm range. should i try a spin without air filter? do i need a 2000 ecm? thought about buying a tuner, as Harley dealer wants $280 to put on the scanner. plus it's a 2.5 week wait. |

For that kind of money I would have taken it to a dyno shop to have it tuned... |

Head temp sensor suspect as if it was telling bike it is cold, it would add fuel like having choke on.New one is cheap, truy it. |
