Not Jardine! Search around and you will find MANY failures. IMHO...Junk, no matter the price. |

I think when you read all of the reviews (on this site, and American Sportbike), it looks like the Special Ops is the winner. You get increased performance, good sound, and keep the exhaust valve. |

I've combed over a lot of exhaust threads for who knows how long and I've heard more good things about the spec ops pipe. With the exhaust valve still being used as mentioned above I think your gonna gain the most or in the buell's case not lose that much! |

Micron. Not only is it the sexiest, it makes the most power, and still can net you 75mpg

Eh Froggy, How much $ the micron? The nice lady on the street in Vegas (early 80s) said,"Talking don't cost nothing". |

I haven't done any research to speak of, but based on the people that are talking about swapping the drummer out for the stocker before going on long trips, it's out of my exhaust race, the micron sounds like a sweet system, but you'll pay for it (if you can find one!) Jardine apparently has some quality issues, so it's out. Which narrows it down to Remus and Spec-Ops for me. |

There's an outfit in Australia that makes a pretty sweet looking outfit for the Uly; headers, pipe & all. it looks great, but I have forgotten the maker's name. Might be worth looking into though. |

I have the Buell race can but the special ops would be nice if you had it ceramic coated. |

OK, is there anyone on planet earth that is getting 75 mpg from their Uly besides Froggy? I feel lucky that I can sometimes pull close to 60 mpg.........on the freeway with a tailwind...... |

Yes, but do not order from Exotic, do a search on here. Also, the Uly version of the Micron has the tips pointed lower to clear the belt guards. I got the XB version on mine, as you can see if i had the lower guard it would be very close.

Sorry I cheated, my bike isn't really a Uly, (just looks like one) plus it is has a custom fuel map to give better fuel economy and more power than the EPA friendly map |

Froggy, have you done a write-up on the Micron system? If so I'd love to read it! |

No, but its freaking awesome, a little louder than the Drummer, but the noise has never been an issue, countless 600 mile days on it, I got at least 20k miles on that pipe. Other than the costs to get the pipe, cost to rotate the engine to install it, cost to tune it, cost to repair the defective header that exploded, it is fantastic. |

OK, is there anyone on planet earth that is getting 75 mpg from their Uly besides Froggy? I get far better than 75 mpg with my Uly when it's in the back of a pickup truck or on a trailer! but when I'm riding it, I only get about 45 to 50 mpg. |

Hi - I have an XB12S with a D&D pipe, and a XB12X with a Jardine pipe (both bought used with pipes/maps installed). Both work great, no issues, but only 6K on each bike. The D&D has a little more power, but is also louder. |

I have to say, my Jardine RT-1 seems to work just right. It came with the bike when I bought it a month ago. If you read the American Sport Bike shootout of mufflers, it weighs less than almost all of them(thus the price I assume) and doesn't look too bad under there. |

Froggy, why do you say to look somewhere other than exoticsportbike? That looks to be a pretty good price for the system. Does it come with install instructions on how to rotate the motor, etc? Also, do the headers come into the pipe in the same location? (Would it be possible to run the micron headers w/stock exhaust if I found it too loud/obnixious for long rides?) Thanks a bunch! |

I would have to dig it up, but I doubt it, I think it tells you to do it per the service manual instructions.

No, both headers don't join, and they both connect to the front of the muffler. Also, I don't find it obnoxious at all on long rides, but I am not you. |

How do you lift the bike since it's not recommended to lift it from the Micron? What reputable source might you suggest I look for a system? Thanks again! |

I've had XB's for 3 years now, and have never used the muffler as due to its round shape nothing can easily jack it anyway. I use Pitbull stands from American Sport Bike, and recently I took off the entire front suspension to replace after a wreck so I suspended it from the ceiling in my garage with tie down straps. I do not know of any source that still sells the Micron. However, there is a (used) one for sale in the classifieds here, but I believe it is the XB version and not the Uly version with different tips to clear the belt guards. |
