Red Hat Buell. I believe it was your cabin Jack and I was going to use, right? Jack is coming down, but I had a death in the family and will not be there, but Jack will. Cabin still reserved? Thanks, REX |

......one large if not too late. Jack, I think I can accommodate. I ordered a couple extra, just in case. No promises yet, though... Rex, my condolences on your loss. Take care of yourself and your family. Your presence will be missed. On another note, I just returned from Kosmic Carl's house, where the mad scientist concocted some of the dreaded "Yellow Dog Lemonade" margaritas. They are lying in wait in my freezer, ready to spring upon the unwary. You have been warned...Mmwuaahaahaha! Mmwuaahaahahahaha... HBJ |

Bikes are on the trailer at el Ranchito del Pinche Chingadero, awaiting my return from the workaday world Thursday evening. I'll be heading for Leakey early Friday morning, expect to be there around 12-1 pm. I'll be bringing the S1 and the Road Pig (in case we decide to ride more than 50 miles!). I'll also have a tool box, an air tank, an ipod player for the great outdoors and a couple of coolers full of the Golden Nectar of the Gods (GNotG). if I get a chance I'll throw some (non-oak) firewood on the trailer, too. Can anybody think of anything else we might need, as long as I'm trucking it? rt |

Excellent idea, Frank--I'll see what I can do in San Antonio. This could delay my arrival until Sunday morning, though... rt |

Oops... It's just Dad . Joe is his name, Joseph Daigle. Or in full, Joseph Emile Rosaire Daigle, Jr. |

Not the best start. No sooner did we close and lock the door at Frank and Lynn's when Jaci asked where the maps and phone numbers are. They are on Frank's ham radio. Can someone call us on Jaci's cell or better yet text her, at 778 386 1705. Otherwise, we'll just ride the Buell up and down Running W Road, if I recall correctly. Oh. Then we missed the turn for Amarillo. I started to get concerned when we passed a sign that said 72 miles to Las Vegas. Turns out there is a Las Vegas in NM as well, so its not as bad as it could have been. ETA Amarillo about 5pm. Hopefully today. |

Getting a little anxious. Got the belt in today, but the tires aren't here yet, an my back one is flat (staple). Not enough tread to patch it. |

Gotta love the Internet. We've already had Ross give us a call so we're good. On the road again. |

Looks like Eric is keeping up with the theme of "Man, I am woefully unprepared for this event" In that spirit I didn't start getting the bike ready for the trip until late yesterday and didn't finish until about noon today. So with this crap rolling through the neighborhood.
Having experienced an F5 tornado up close and personal in the past, we are sitting tight at Meribeth's until the AM. Snug as a bug

Well, I started getting things ready. I still have no idea when I can leave. My goal is a hit Lubbock during no peak hours. I hate that I need to trailer but time is a factor. The weather here is not that great either, rain, snow, sleet and cold... At least no Tornados, stay safe Loren and Meribeth. Ross I am bringing a rear and front tire that you can have. Looking at the rear tire I do not think it has 1000 miles left on it. I know for a fact, that you can ride a few hundred miles with belt showing.. (right Smoke)... See you all on Friday... Frank |

How's the weather forecast? http://www.accuweather.com/us/tx/leakey/78873/forecast-details.asp Thunderstorms possible. Heh-heh. Kinda funny, but not so much. Hope it holds off for the riding. (Message edited by blake on May 12, 2010) |

Always wondered about getting stranded on the wrong side of a creek crossing. Could be fun on the Uly. |

Ye-haw!!! Fun started today for me, with Eric and Jaci showing up here about 7 PM. We hung out, chatted and ate at Ruby Tequilas, even though we just caught the last song of the live band that was there tonight. My dad (Joe) was really excited and happy to meet them too. He wishes he could ride down too, but he's stuck with work. It also happened to be the first of 8 days vacation for me. |

BTW, I got the belt on and some misc work done today on the bike. If I'm really lucky, the tires will come in early tomorrow. Otherwise, I'll fix the one I got for now. |

the furthest i have ridden with the steel belt showing was Birmingham to home. about 460 miles. i expected to find a tire vendor at the AHRMA vintage days when i made a last minute decision to ride up Sat and back Sun. found a used tire but no way to install so rode home. Kind of carefully at first but normally after a while. the Colorado tire is still on the back of the S2 as i have not changed it out for the new Strada that was waiting for me when i got back last year. see y'all tomorrow night. tim |
