Now there is no need to buy the race ECM. I think the race ECM is mapped for the Buell race kit, including race pipe and air filter. Before ECMspy you needed the race ECM not to have the check engine light on continuously after removing the exhaust servo for the stock exaust. Now with ECMspy you can just turn off that function. No need for the race ECM. All said you should probable have you ECM remapped for your. jardine exhaust. That is how I understand it. |

The Jardine exhaust is not bad for the 9 but the 12 is a different story. The Jardine is too free flowing for the 12. According to the American Sport Bike dyno charts the Jardine is one of the best performing pipes for the 9. Some people bad mouth the Jardine because of the loss of low end torque due to the lack of backpressure. This can be fixed with a quiet insert or tuning or by fitting a reducer inside the can itself. |

There is SOME accurate info above. If you do not understand ECMSpy, the race ECM is a good plug-and-play option for you. Only the 12 had the valve in the muffler, the 9 did not. The race ECM works fairly well with most pipes. To answer your question directly, I don't mind the mapping in the race ECM. You do lose some lower rpm drivability, but I came from the sport bike world so keeping the bike in the higher rpms is not a big deal to me. |

I think the main strike against the Jardine is they have a reputation for coming apart. |

Mine blew apart at around 8k. Turned the end and re-riveted. No biggie. Until I have the $$$ for a Jardine or those equal length janks, it works fine! |

I think on the coming apart deal could be partially self inflicted. It could easily be caused by improper tightening of the system when installed, not repacking in intervals e.g. 5000k miles and the can being hit from bottoming out. As the packing wears out to a point where its almost gone, the exhaust gases put a lot of pressure on the end cap causing the blow out. |

I have a race ECM and a Jardine can on my XB9SX. Both have been nice upgrades. My opinion is that the race ECM makes the bike a little less friendly/easy to ride on the street. It was MUCH better at the track. It is really loud (more than I would like). American Sport Bike has a great review/tests of the various exhausts that are available for Buell XBs. On my 9, I have had no quality issues with the Jardine can. (Message edited by PatrickMitchell on May 14, 2010) |

I rode a stock bike and a factory kitted bike and went for the factory kit. I have had the factory race kit including the ECM since new on my 12S I am at 26,000+ miles with no issue, and it has been a good all around performer with out too much noise. Sometimes I wish it sounded like a Sportster with straight pipes, but I wear ear plugs already! Can anyone with ECM Spy copy my Race ECM settings to my stock ECM so I would have a spare? |

I love my factory race kit (pipes, intake, ECM) on my '03 XB9s. It might be a tad rougher at the low end, I'm not even sure it's noticeable, but Jeez does it wind up nicely and smoothly. Noticeable performance increase and sweet (hefty but not deafeningly loud) sound. |

I'm quite happy with my Jardine on my XB12. It did run rich in the bottom end until I got the tuning done. The torque hole was very noticeable without the tune. It's seen of 20K miles so far with no problems other than the occasional repack. I do have the CF version so that may be a factor in durability. I've also heard that decel popping beats the rivet holes up pretty bad, compounded by not repacking it. I find it to be a reasonable muffler for the cost. I do have the QT baffle though. Too loud without it! |

I had a race ecm on my 05 cg. What it did was provide a much better timing curve that worked with the stock timing setting. When she was all stock the timing never seemed right and I had to retard it a teeny bit. With the race ecm however, she liked the timing mark dead center where it's supposed to be. It worked well with the Buell race pipe and K&N. The real magic happened when I added the open air box kit and tossed the race can for an SS Drummer. My bike instantly evolved into an absolute joy to ride at any speed and any rpm. |
