Some of you have asked for more than one seat. This list represents interested buyers. If and when this goes down all the particular's will be disclosed and firmed up with group consensus being be priority. The circumstances of the comfort seat order as presented by Anon suggest that Erik Buell Racing would be unable to participate in this adventure. I see Erik Buell Racing stitching on the side as a sign of support for Erik. If Erik Buell Racing is unable to participate directly, perhaps we can license his Name for the limited production run we will be having. We would be near our target at 155.20 if Baldwin took 20% off their $194.00 seat. Baldwin also does gel, choice of color for cover and stitching. To summarize, What would we be willing to pay Erik Buell Racing per seat for the right to have the new Pegasus and ERB script stitched onto both sides of the seat? I suggest that by the end of this coming week we will have more ideas from everyone and maybe Anon will address the licensing issues so we will have some idea of where we stand on that idea. 41 names and some with multiple quantities. My two cents: SADDLEMEN. I know these guys. They TRANSFORMED my x1 from a 75mile a day bike to a 400 mile a day bike (ass-wise). They understand the physiology, they're smart with materials and relevant technology, they make good stuff (seams/fit-finish, etc.), and they do it in America. And NO I don't have any vested interest whatsoever. It's possible they'll do a deal on the group - I haven't asked. Check their sport bike seat page: http://www.saddlemen.com/store/index.php?main_page =index&cPath=511_514&zenid=c6d5870323aef95da0b9774 b707351d0 |

just looked, Saddleman does not seem to have a Buell offering. Did I miss something? Nattyx1 Do you think the 150.00 price constraint is possible with Saddleman? (Message edited by dannybuell on May 09, 2010) |

Just throwing in my opinion. As long as the "comfort" seat performs I don't care if there is a logo on it or not. Whoever manufactures it is fine to put there logo on as far as I'm concerned if it gives us the best bang for the buck. If EeBeeAre wants their logo on great, if someone else does that's fine too. I also want to put in my vote for a gel seat that cuts down on the 2" foam. Vinyl is a fine material. I have a Mustang seat on my Dyna and it's amazingly comfy and is vinyl. If the price comes out <$180 I'd be happy. PS. Maybe pursue Mustang? (Message edited by hogzilla on May 09, 2010) (Message edited by hogzilla on May 09, 2010) |

Saddlemen's "custom" recovers look awesome! http://www.saddlemen.com/store/index.php?main_page =index&cPath=476_510&zenid=c6d5870323aef95da0b9774 b707351d0 I may have to give them a call if this doesn't pan out for us. |

With the addition of Mickeyq there are now 42 who want to give a group order to a vendor most able to meet the $150.00 goal for a basic touring seat. 42 seats is a $6300.00 order. Great vendor suggestions so far; Baldwin--Saddlemen--Mustang any others? We should compose a draft letter of introduction explaining our situation and desire to work with a vendor who can come closest to our pricing goal for a group order of 42 1125 touring seats. Any volunteers for the first draft? THX |

You're not going to see a $150 price point for 42 seats. I doubt you'd see that price point for 250 seats. The tooling for the seat pan will be the pricey thing. |

^ +1 The only hope to hit that is to get something arranged with the previous builder of the custom seat. If the relationship is dead I don't think this will happen at that price. One possibility, not probable though, is approach Corbin for a "basic" seat. Meaning, built to their current specs for comfort, but with vinyl instead of leather. You may shave some money off and then by giving them a large bulk order get a discount on top of that. |

THX Steve_mackay your assessment may be correct about the seat pan issue. I sort of expected some site sponsor to pick this up by now. I see that Baldwin "Prices Are For Customizing Your Stock Seat". Will anyone make a volume allowance for a group order? |

I have you on the list Xb4me. I have just written a letter to Corbin sales explaining the goal of our group to order in mass for a discount. I gave them a link to this thread and asked for their response. Based on the facts presented to me in this thread, the Buell comfort seat is apparently Chinese. The Corbin is American made, and more money. Perhaps some of us can open our wallets a bit more for an American company. |

Axl_rose the 150.00 is based on a chinese seat that we can't get. I am now just hoping for a group discount at this time. I just sent an inquiry to Le Pera. (Message edited by dannybuell on May 10, 2010) |

+1 Definitely. Thanks for moving this forward for us. BTW, Sargent seats also offers a recovering service. Not sure of quality. It does require sending in your current seat. After all is done you can almost get a new Corbin. |

NattyX1 is right. I think we should try to get the saddlemen guys onboard for this project. I left a msg with their sales department about doing my seat. http://saddlemen.com/saddlenews/?p=2798 |

I'm interested as well, put me on the list. But for a seat that isn't thicker than the stock seat. I like the Saddlemen product, not sure about that crack down the middle of the seat though. I think the Baldwin product is high quality as well. Corbin doesn't have the reputation Sargent has with the Ducati culture. I could care less about logos and emblems. I did have a Sargent on my Ducati and loved it. But Corbin's reputation has been going down hill since they were the king, 20 years ago. |

check this out. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/562120.html?1273534521 Look at the photo where the stock hovers above the Corbin. There comments were based on the Stock being made for a woman and the Corbin leaving room for the male anatomy. Picture clearly makes that point. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/562120.html?1273534521 Sargents are nice but they do not list a Buell seat. |

There are two existing seat pans...the stock seat pan, which is also used on the Buell touring seats, and the Corbin seat pan. You won't touch a Corbin seat for $150. It ain't gonna happen, group buy or not, so don't even put your hopes in that direction. I am not a Corbin dealer any more, so I have no pull with them at all. I LIKE their seats, but there is too much water under the bridge there for me to do anything with them, until/unless the company sells and they have some major changes in their quality and customer service policies. So that leaves the stock seat pan. I don't have any ins into buying JUST the seat pans. I'll check and see what I can find out. Assuming we had those, we'd have to cut a deal with a custom upholsterer to do the covering. Once upon a time, American Sport Bike used to get Saddleman to cover S1 seats. This was way before my time. I can check, but I know nothing of it, so I'm not sure it'll lead anywhere. But I'm BURIED this week getting ready for the trip to infineon in advance of the 1125 exhaust shootout next week. I'll start planting some seeds, but I can't spend much time on it this week. Al |

Is the $150 price ceiling firm with everyone? How flexible can we be? I think we all know now that an American seat will cost more. We are just hoping for a group deal at this time. |

I have a used touring seat for my 09 R, but have not finished re-assembling the bike yet. I can not comment on the comfort factor of either stock or touring seat as yet. I am watching this thread and will add my name to the list once things progress a little further ('cause my used touring seat ..... looks ..... well ..... used ) |

I looked at the Baldwin seats a while back, the one I wanted was the gel insert one. As I recall, it was slightly over $300 with the core charge at the time. Even without the gel or the core charge, their base seat was almost $200. That's not a whole lot over what the Firebolt seat was and I'm guessing it's decent quality stuff made here in the US. I'm very tempted to go this route if nothing gets sorted out for a group buy. Personally, I've never really cared for the Corbin seats and I've heard a few too many horror stories about their customer service, ie; total lack of it. I may be slow with the service I provide building pipes for fellow Buellers, but I do try to give the level of service I'd expect from a much larger and well equipped company. |
