So earlier this year I posted a thread saying that my winter mods on my fiances XB9S were done...except then I got a good deal on a 9SL suspension! I couldn't just bolt it on, no....I had to rebuild the forks. As long as I had them torn down, why not dress em up a bit! So....all new seals, bearings, etc and the bike handles wonderfully, a little powder coat and a little bit of anodizing and they look wonderful! All of the white is powdercoat, the fork uppers I sent to Pete at GrandStand Designs and he anodized them. Has a unique look that REALLY turns heads! I've never seen another bike like it! Thanks again to Pete: www.grandstanddesigns.com And to Al: www.americansportbike.com And to my friend Art (who cut my vinyl): www.artdoesart.com for all of their help and great work! Lol no. If it were my bike, it would have been all black (like my X1)....but alas, it is for my fiance! There's a bit of purple in the graphics as well- her current gear is purple and white, and she looks hott on the bike! |

True that! I already want to remove the frame and swingarm next winter and PC them white! Also, I have a ton of extra parts, including a spare set of very clean black plastics. I really want to pick up a 12Ss with the black frame and black wheels and make it all black! |

I was going say that the frame looks a little out of place now and you better do something with it. Now the exact what to do I'll leave to your. I do like the blue forks with the blue wheels. You know... If you do something to the frame the heads and cylinders are going to look funny too, so you better plan on doing something to those too. Probably should send the header out for the silver ceramic coating, the black looks kind of out of place and I can tell you from experience that the white paint on the header wrap does not work (crying shame that is). The silver ceramic should go nicely with the polished lip on the rims. I would work on the belt guards and make the rear most guards white with Fusion paint. I just have a thing about leaving the belt that unprotected and I think white would do the bike justice. The Fusion seems to be holding up on my test mirrors, no cracks from the bugs yet so it should work on the belt guards too. Try covering the cooling scoops with blue painters tape and see how it looks. I think it might look good and would be cheap and reversible to get an idea. If you don't do the scoops in blue, the pucks need to be blue, that might clean up the frame enough to where you can leave it alone. If you do the frame white, then the seat needs a color change (probably blue). Also if the frame and swingarm were both white, then the belt guards would need to be some other color than white. If you need me to find any other ways to spend your money, just let me know and I'll make a second list |

Another thing to add (if you can find it) would be some white base/yellow reflective and white base/red reflective tapes for the front and rear sides to increase saftey and get back to closer to real legal status. You could definitely get white/white tape but somewhere I thought I saw the above colors so it might be worth the search. |

I would put a racoon tail on the rear fender on it for her, for a joke !!! Bike looks good though, watch out for too much white it will drowned out everything else. You always need different colors for contrast. It sounds crazy but home decorating painting rules apply in choosing any color combination, unless you making a pimp mobile. |

I remember you posting this bike in the past. It truly turned out sweet. I'd have to disagree with Greg on the frame though. There is enough silver left to where it doesn't look completely out of place. If the color was to change I'd go black. White or blue would be too much. Again, sweet ride... |

Yeah I think that black on the frame and swingarm would look great. For that same reason I powder coated the headlight pods black rather than blue or white....would have been too much of a good thing! |

Thanks, I have 4 sets of heel guards that I have played around with: stock silver, polished chrome, the blue ones and a set I had powder coated white. With any of the others I just felt it lacked something. I should have taken some pics while swapping them around! I had a chance to take er out and rip on er this weekend and get the suspension dialed in. Man, is it fun to ride with the low suspension! |
