From Hell For Leather: "Claudio Castiglioni, Federico Minoli competing to purchase MV Agusta MV Agusta has shortlisted five potential buyers, according to a report in Il Sol 24 Ore, an Italian newspaper. Included on that list are current MV Chairman Claudio Castiglioni and former Ducati CEO Federico Minoli, the other three inclusions are unnamed private equity firms. Castiglioni's bid is being backed by Intessa Sanpaolo, a major Italian banking group, while Minoli is said to have the support of a private equity fund..." Federico Minoli is a true enthusiast too. I met him in Italy when I ws riding the Motogiro d'Italia on a rented ST2 ("turisti" non-competition class), and both he and the #2 man at Ducati, Gianluigi Mengoli, rode much of the weeklong tour over some challenging and fast roads with us. I also talked to him at some US MotoGPs. He had a daily blog on the Ducati website that was very entertaining. Ducati is run by true riders who have the passion, unlike a certain US motorcycle mfg. | ||

Looks like there is now no official dealer network in Australia for MV Agusta... PFG relinquishes MV Agusta and Cagiva Service and warranty back-up to be provided by another company with no official distributor for the two marques in Australia Published : Friday, 16 July 2010 There is no longer an official Australian distributor for MV Agusta and Cagiva, with the Queensland-based Paul Feeney Group (PFG) relinquishing its rights after a long association with the Italian brands. PFG will continue to be the Australian distributor for TGB ATVs and Husqvarna. The news that PFG is bowing out of its MV/Cagiva alliance doesn't come as a great surprise, as the two marques have been struggling to gain traction in Australia for some time. Last year, local dealers retailed just 65 MVs and 14 Cagivas, and halfway trough this year the numbers are 27 and two respectively - clearly an untenable situation for PFG. MV Agusta and Cagiva are owned by Harley-Davidson, which is currently trying to offload the Italian icons. ...and possibly no service or warranty support: MV Agusta and Cagiva riders now in limbo Peter Stevens has dismissed claims it will now be the service and warranty provider in Australia following the withdrawal of the Paul Feeney Group Published : Sunday, 18 July 2010 MV Agusta and Cagiva riders in Australia could be in for a rough and lonely ride, with Peter Stevens Motorcycles (PS) rubbishing the assertion that it will now be the service and warranty provider in Australia following the decision by the Queensland-based Paul Feeney Group (PFG) to end its long association with the Italian brands. In a media release last week, PFG stated that PS would be taking over the service and warranty role forthwith, but that has now been unequivocally rejected by PS in its own statement. It reads as follows: "Peter Stevens Motorcycles is not the provider or supplier of product or warranty to the MV Cagiva brand for Australia in any other way than a retailer. "Peter Stevens Motorcycles was disappointed to read the Paul Feeney Group Press Release that they have ceased operations as the MV Agusta and Cagiva distributor for Australia. "Further we were surprised that PFG nominated Peter Stevens Motorcycles as the supplier of warranty to the MV Cagiva brand. This is incorrect."
