I dropped the 1125R off for a service this morning (along with a printout of the issues and the part numbers they need to fix them - thanks to you guys for providing them LOL) They've loaned me a new VROD for the day, I hate to say it but it's quite nice... The fuelling is spot on and the aftermarket pipes sound sweet. Cornering sucks, the bars are too narrow and so are the pegs and I burnt my right leg on the pipes but other than that it's kinda nice... I'd be tempted to have one as a second bike if it wasn't a Harley (really don't like that company much!) The parts guy was a douche, "Oh you have issues with your Buell - what a surprise, why do you think we dropped them?" I responded with "'cause Harley is run by a complete and you have difficulty understanding any technology that has been developed since the fifties?" |

I responded with "'cause Harley is run by a complete •••• and you have difficulty understanding any technology that has been developed since the fifties?" I love that! I would probably have been to chicken shit to say it before I got the bike back. Way to go! |

Awesome line. I would have thought of that about half way home...too late to be of any use. Way to go! |

Not surprised you like the V-Rod - after all it does have an engine that was supposed to have been Buell's ! And if you ride it in the wet whatever you do, don't try any hard front breaking - it will go down very easily - I know, I've been there and done that - the handling in the wet can, at best, be called "interesting" ! |

I rode a V-ROD a couple years ago with forward controls and pretty much hated everything about the bike. I didn't even care for the engine that much. So then I took out one with mid controls and I hated that one just as much. |

V-Rods are a nice bike. It was actually the first bike I ever owned. Has a special place in my heart. Funny thing is my bike is still sitting on the showroom floor after almost a year. There was never a good market for them, they were like Harley's red headed stepchild. Most dealers around here stopped carrying accessories/parts for the bike. |

I still have my vrod as second bike, and i love it, it goes like crazy, done some mods. I won't sell it, fun in a different way!!! |

I have a V-Rod Muscle. I tell folks that I like my Harleys and Buells like my whiskey...with a splash of water! Different ride that gets a lot of comments. Sadly, more than my 1125R! The 1125R provides more grins per mile, though. The forward controls on the V-Rod take some getting used to, and I find that mine surges like the 1125 USED to...until the latest flash for the 1125R! |

Great come back. I had a Service Manager ten years ago that I wanted to shoot in the knee caps soooooo much. Buell-hating HD employees need some tough love :P |

If some people only knew how stupid they make themselves look by making ignorant comments like that. You think you had some envy going on, trying to pot shot the superior line of Harley. I sure he has the same thoughts about MV. Interesting loaner though, I try to like the vrod, but half the guys I see ride it make it look small & kinda strange, I think it looks good without a rider but put someone on it & it looks odd to me. But the muscle version may be different, only seen one in the showroom. I've thought about trying a test ride on a rocker C, another one I think looks pretty cool. But I still don't feel old & slow enough to be getting a Harley yet, but I could see someday ... long after the current CEO ahole is not getting bonuses from sales. |

The service writer at the dealer I took mine to said, jokingly, he sees a lot of Buell 1125r(s) coming in for work. (This is when I brought mine in for warranty harness and CA canister.) I told him, "your whole service area is full of Harleys, this is the only Buell here. You guys take in Harleys all day long." He said, "good point." |

Harley guys hate on VRods just as much as they hate on Buells. I suppose its envy. Water-cooled and/or more horsepower... if its not an air-cooled big twin, all they do is put it down. But they probably haven't even ridden them. |

I had a Street Rod and it was fun. In spite of the long wheelbase and 600+ weight, it handled well too. Not in the same category as the Buell, but still fun to ride. |

80K+ on my '03 VRSCA. I love it, but it's a very different animal than the 1125CR. And yes, no front brake in the rain! The forward controls require getting used to, and then there is no looking back. I've done 1300 miles in a single day with no issues. Doubt I could do that on the CR. Love my V-Rod. But you're right, very restricted cornering. That's why I own two very different bikes. |

I seriously considered an ’06 Street Rod before buying my ’08 R. Liked everything but the curb weight and cornering prowess, what a sweet exhaust note! As far as HD dealers are concerned there are some good ones, like Western Reserve in Mentor, OH. I think the typical dealer is complete shite. I can appreciate low pressure sales tactics. But the no response tactic, that seems to be commonplace, is quite puzzling. I am also convinced that all the HD sales guys have to attend classes on how to answer any question with a grunt, and how to offend potential customers in thirty seconds or less. |

I too have a V-Rod. It's a 2006 Night Rod. Highly customized. It's much more of a sporty cruiser than the regular Big Twin Harleys. It's not a touring bike, but you can go 500 mile days no sweat. It is a great bike for traveling. The 1125R is a great bike for an afternoon ride through the mountains or twisty roads. I was kinda hoping the 1125R could be a good street bike, but it isn't, at least not for me. So I guess I need a third bike. Peter |

+1 Jules, Took my X-1 into a local non-Buell Harley shop for a state safety inspection. Went in to pay and when I came back my bike wasn't there. The service manager told me, very loudly with a big audience, that it was out on the lot behind the "real Harleys". He had already made me mad when I showed up. So I said, "Out with the real Harleys huh? What an idea, you know when I get old like you, I might consider one. Thanks for the idea." Of course he didn't have a comeback. What is disturbing is that a Harley dealer would harass a customer who is spending money there. Now that is TOO much! Oh and I was riding Harleys before that service manager even had a driver's license. |

Sometimes buellers can be thin skinned. Service managers get chewed out and raped by customers on a daily basis. Sometimes they get a little to leathery and lose touch with what is normal grinding and what is out of line to say to customers. Im sure they give V-rod and sportster customers a hard time too, just laugh it off and be glad you dont have that job. |

I've got a '06 Night Rod. Bought it new and it has 22K miles on it. On a VRod specific forum Daniii and I are on, we refer to the V and ourselves as HD's red-headed step-children for the way some HD dealers treat us. I'm thinking the Buells are the illegitimate child of the non-HD parent of the Vrod. It's a great bike, but it does need some help in some areas. A lot of folks have made some amazing machines out of them, but it certainly takes a certain kind of person to love them. |

How'd you get the dealer to give you a loaner? I test rode a Street Rod a coupe years ago, back to back with an 1125R, which was the real reason I was at the dealer. I used to have a Vmax and if I was in the market for another cruiser, the only bike I'd buy would be a Street Rod. |

How'd you get the dealer to give you a loaner? In the UK the first service is free and you're entitled to a loan bike. Subsequent services are chargeable but they'll still give you a loaner. The Service Manager was a nice guy, he really appreciated my giving him the part numbers for the bits that needed ordering and has agreed to order them all based on my diagnosis (well, to be fair based on the Badweb diagnosis LOL). Gwtting back on the R after a day on the VRod was interesting, the brakes were sooo much sharper and the steering is just perfection... I really think you need some time away from the 1125 every so often to remind you just how good it is, helps keep things in perspective |

I rented a V-rod in Vegas for the day as I had never had a chance to ride one. Early model, stock everything. Woof...didn't like it at all. Sound was lame, it only handled in a straight line, feet forward limited the ability to really enjoy the HP. 1" bar controls are not really my thing. Good concept in a horrible package, IMHO. |

rode a 07 night rod and a 09 muscle at the dealer last week. Just because I was curious. Nice ride, but if you aren't a sucker for the 45 degree Harley brapbrapbrap, why spend the HD premium? There are lots of nice modern power cruisers on the market for a lot less. IMO |

Jules, I agree. I'm currently on a Crossbones while my R's in the shop. During past services, I've ridden a Heritage Softtail, a Fatboy, a StreetBob, a Rocker, a VRod, and a Nightster. Nice to see what else there is to ride, but I'm always happy to get my bike back! |

I love the look of the muscle, but I'm so pissed at harley for letting buell go that if i was in the market for that type of bike i would get the V-max. From what i hear the v-max has a lot more punch and it can corner. |

I demo'd a VRod at mid-O a couple years ago. I really loved the engine. That same year I'd gone out on a KTM super duke and some other hi-perf twin and the VRod's motor was my fave. But the riding position on the thing was THE WORST of any bike I'd ever been on - might have been a Muscle, I don't remember exactly - but it had forward controls and drag bars or something stupid like that. Just completely wrong. Never cared for the styling either - the bike just struck me as a waste of a good motor... |
