Riding home from the dealer yesterday kickstand spring fell off. Luckily I did not eat it noticed the problem at a stoplight 3 miles from home. Traveled down the bicycle lane in first with my heel under kickstand and made it home. I know I did some left hand turns. I consider myself lucky. |

The 1125r kickstand won't actually cause you too much grief left down, honestly. |

Buell designed the kickstands to not be a safety hazard, you could ride with it intentionally down. |

Mine fell off during a long distance ride. I was about 100 miles from home. |

Some time ago, mine fell off as well. Now I have safety wire on the spring and I bent the hooks in a bit more so they don't fatigue and bend back out. Every time I wash my CR I make sure to inspect it. |

Good to know. Called the dealer on the side of the road and ordered the spring. So hopefully I will be riding by Thursday. I hate using my cage. |

emergency bungee cord works good. i bought 2 springs when mine broke and put one on and the other in the tank bag. i have never used the second one yet. i did the same with the road king and am still riding it with an extra spring in the windshield bag. tim |

Erik, Mine fell off three weeks ago while I was riding quit fast which I think kept it up. Wind speed? Anyway I stopped at a stop sign and it hit the back of my heal. I was like WTF!?! Shit! Muther 9^&^#$653! Because I have read about this b4. So I found a piece of wire and tied it up on the side of the road. HD got a spring under warranty for me and I went to get it only to find that not only did the spring come off but there is a little bracket or something that the spring attaches to and that had fell off too! Three weeks later I still have no side stand. Hopefully today or tomorrow they will have the parts in. Bottom line: 1. make sure it wasn't only your spring that fell off! 2. The plastic thing that the side stand switch would be housed in... That will fall off too so go ahead and tighten up that torx bolt. FML Haha P.S. I think our bikes were born from the same bitch... We have the exact same problems as each other. (Message edited by captain_america on April 19, 2010) |

Wow! Our bikes are definately brothers. LOL! Everything is gone other than the stand itself. I am calling them right now to tell them. |

Safety wire that spring, that way you will still have it when a hook breaks. It's only the hooks that break as far as I know. |

My dealer has been great. My guy said he ordered the spring kit that comes with the spring and the housing. |

Did you guys not get the recall? There was a recall on the spring. I've got almost 47,000 miles and have not had any problems with my spring. I did get the recall. |

Hopefully this new spring kit is the recall part. I will tell them about the recall when the part comes in and have them put it on. |

The "spring kit" may be the recall part. I believe it was the same recall where the fuel vent line was routed back to the left passenger peg. The recall may not have been applicable to the 2009 CR... It may already have the superseded part as stock equipment. |

Well I went into the dealer this past Saturday after two weeks of waiting for the parts to come in. First screw up by my dealer. After warning them to make sure all the components are in the spring kit. Sure enough the bushings were not there. We will see how long the bushings take to get here. 3 weeks now and counting. |
