First off- thanks to Treadmarks. I always hated the huge whale tail on these bikes, and a couple hours in the shop fixed that. It's milled from .125thk 6061-T6, and the second-gen will be CNC'd and probably TypeIII black anodized. I used LED Tag Bolts to illuminate the plate. Then I got annoyed at the Shrek-ears, and decided to get 2010 signals all around (thanks Bumpus) and outfit them with LED's. Had to do it this way, 'cuz red signals are impossible to find and I have a running light mod. If my measurements came out right, they clear the inside width of the saddlebags. So, since search didn't find me much, here's a few pics for your entertainment... Before. Baby got back. The sheetmetal part, a la Treadmarks. Side view. Much faster-lookin', eh? With 2010 signal stalks. The picture does not do them justice- they are a very clean design, worlds better than the old ones. Since I have yet to figure out how to hotlink the pictures, here's a link to the whole gallery, so you can see more and higher-res. http://www.flickr.com/photos/17419479@N07/sets/721 57622828261751/ And here's the BOM: 2ea Turn Signals, LR Y0526.7AA 2ea Turn Signals, RR Y0527.7AA 8x10x1/8" Aluminum 6061-T6 1ea Grommet, rubber, for 3/4" ID 1rl Gasketing material, foam rubber 1pr LED Tag Boltz from CustomDynamics 1pr 1156 27-SMT-LED Red from V-LEDs 1pr 1156 27-SMT-LED Amber from V-LEDs Hope this helps someone, -Nadz |

I like it, a lot! Looks really clean like that. Edit: Looking at the pics again, how did you move the seat lock and still have it work? I think a write-up and maybe plans are in order (if you don't plan on producing them) (Message edited by NateK on May 02, 2010) |

Looks GREAT!.......I like the indicators. I did a similar mod to mine, but mounted the license plate at the forward edge of the unit, and used the OEM light. Natek, the lock is on a cable, you can mount it anywhere

I really like those turn signals and can justify them as a safety purchase, they look bigger and brighter |

It looks good sans bags, does that interfere with the bag mounts and how does it look? |

Signals clear within 1/8". The inside width of the Outdoorsman bags (or outside width of the support frame) is 15.25". The 2010 signals are 5.25" from tip to flat, so the bracket's "ears" must be less than 4.75" wide. One of these days I'll take a picture with bags. I used the rear signals on both back and front, because they are shorter, less fragile, and way cooler-lookin'. Side benefit: the wiring harness is longer for easier routing past all my HID circuitry. The design was pioneered by Treadmarks in this thread. The image links have gone dead, but it's elegantly simple. One of these days I'll Pro/E it out 'cuz I want to do a second generation in CNC. Figure it can be done in two setups: one to drill all the holes, then lock it down and hog it out. I spent more time cleaning up the bandsaw mess than it would have taken to machine it! Also, if I'd had a better press break, I could have left the ears larger, and folded them to touch the plate support. Once TIG'd, uber-strength! For those of you looking for a turnkey solution, or who don't have access to a shop, there's always Palmer's Tail Tidy. |

Anyone have pic of the palmer tail tidy with a U.S. license plate on it. Did you have to modify it to make U.S. plate fit? Also if you have outdoorsman bags, do the signals clear the fender eliminator kit? Thanks |
