Hi guys, i just ordered a new rear tire for my bike as the old one somehow wore out.. I'm going from a Pilot Power 2CT 180/55 to a 190/55 on my 07'XB12Ss... I removed the belt guards to make clearance... Anyone have any pics with this on the rear so i can see how it will look? |

I dont have pic's but thats the same tire Pilot Power 2CT , and same size 190/55 im going to get as well. I'm going to wait till mid summer. Ive got a bit of tread let. When you get yours on please post some pics. I have heard that with some 190's people were able to keep their belt guards on. |

I ended up with one because the shop didn't have a 180 in stock and they gave me a break on the price. I never noticed a difference and I liked the looks so I stuck with the 190's. |

The 190 will RAISE the rear. If you can POSSIBLY raise the front - do so as FAR AS POSSIBLE on the forks. Bike can get really squirrelly when braking/turning because with a 1/2 - 3/4 inch higher ride in the rear, the angles are going to be that much steeper in the front. If you have a stock shock, it's not adjustable for ride height so your only choice is to RAISE the front. |

i run a 190/55 super corsa on mine but i also run a penske rear shock. slaughter is right about the 55 series tires, you'll need to drop the forks flush with the top of the triple tree to try and keep the steering angle from getting to severe. your side stand will seem a little to short also, not a problem but she'll lean more.

FYI.... A 190 tire will rub the swing arm on 08,09 models (ask me how I know). Like Slaughter said, a 190 will raise the rear. I have used a 190 to do that AT the race track. IMO, I don't see the advantage of a 190 tire on the street. But that is the cool thing about motorcycles... If it floats your boat be happy!! |

FYI.... A 190 tire will rub the swing arm on 08,09 models (ask me how I know). Is this true for the Uly's too? This is a crucial bit of information I need! (And I don't see an advantage for going wider either, it's just that the tire I want is only made in 190) |

Paint_shaker... Ok I will bite, why wont it work on the 08 and 09 models? I have a 08 Firebolt and was hoping to put a 190 maybe even a 200 on next... Please explain... -Taylor- Buellxb12r425 |

It should fit on the Uly, as the swing arm is longer. It will fit on an 04 (I have one on the race bike right now). It will NOT fit on 08/09 due to the swing arm design. The clearence between the tire and swing arm is much tighter, thus a 190 tire will rub the swing arm. |

Got it. So it's a front to back issue, not a side to side issue. I'll take a closer look at the uly then before I buy. Thanks! |

Paint, I've run a 190/50 for the last 2 yrs and no problems ('08 scg). Where did yours make contact? My best guess would be with the stone guard. High speed rt hand on the track? |

Let me ask this... I am getting NEW tires for my 02 X1. Orignal size on it is FRONT - 120/70/17 REAR - 170/60/17 I want to go to a 180 or 190 rear.. But should I go to a 60 series front due to the REAR being a 55 or 50 seriers??? I just did NOT want the bike to sit or feel funny due to the bigger tires but smaller profile in the rear and 70 series up front... Thanks, Matt |

On an 08/09 XB12R, a 190/55 tire will rub against the back of the swing arm. Not sure about a 190/50. A 200/50? At some point belt clearance will be an issue. |

Matt, the first set of tires I put on my '00 X1 were Scorpion Syncs. 180/55 rear and 120/55 on the front. They handled just fine. I then tried a 170 Strada which felt more flickable, but something about the 180 still appeals more to me. I just got another set of Stradas for the X1. Back to a 180 this time. All that experience is with cast wheels btw. The only tires I've ridden with on PM wheels is a 170 Metzler Sportec (170 on a PM wheel has a VERY flat profile) I assume you already know that according to the manual, cast wheels should have a 170, PM's a 180. |
