Bob, glad you had a fun ride! Where all did you go? I was hoping to make it, but I did my oil change today (250 mi late). I'll just say that a 20-min job turned into a 3-hr re-enactment of the Exxon Valdez disaster. Yeah, the oil sure does come out of the left side fast. I knew it did (read about it here) but the thing I was holding to redirect the oil into the pan just didn't work out. Thank God for kitty litter. On another note, I visited SVHD yesterday. Wow, those guys ARE nice! They hooked me up with 2 filters and the washers for half price. Also, they made me a smokin deal on a set of fairing lowers they had taking up space in the back. I hadn't planned on getting them, but for the deal they gave me, I couldn't say no. How's $200 sound? Woo hoo! (Message edited by nightmare1 on April 25, 2010) |

Kerri, just did Trappers divide, Snowbasin road and around Pineview so I could check the water level for some upcoming fishing. The deal on the lowers sound great, and I understand they come with brackets for mounting, a real plus, and their painted to match, aren't they? Don't forget to space it out some and use some insulation to keep heat off it as they are plastic and can melt. Do a search here for additional info. Plenty of summer ahead for some great riding and we WILL do it. What oil did you decide on? Later, Bob |

I went with Mobil 1 this time. I'll switch later when I figure out if I'm going to track it or not. The old oil looked and smelled ok. Not gassy or discolored...good and dark. No metal on the plug. Ops check good afterwards...no leaks. The lowers come with all the hardware. There's some insulation tape stuff that comes with it as well. They are just gloss black, but I'm trying to think of what to do with them. Guess I have to get the belly pan next! Heard another rumor about MMP next weekend...will try to get more details this week... |

I have a friend coming into town from CO with his Speed Triple, and his buddy on a Duc of some sort. They are going to be going to the races at the end of May. I've requested the time off and hope to do some scenic riding that weekend. I'll look into the Apex trackday too, do you know what track config they are planning for it? Just got back from a long weekend in the Grand Staircase, drove the truck since we had gear to haul too. Highway 12 is amazing. I am going to have to ride there this summer. Link to pics from the trip: http://picasaweb.google.com/105220229312484251989/ 20100427?feat=directlink and more: http://picasaweb.google.com/don.ferguson1/CoyoteGu lch# I'm the guy with the Buell hat. Kerri, that's a great deal on those lowers, they will really clean up the lines on your bike too. Pods look good on the CR but don't suit the R so much, IMO. |

According to the Apex website they are doing the perimeter course...should be fun! Those are awesome pictures! What a cool trip! I'd love to know where all you went...I need to get out to do some hiking myself. I took my mom around Arches last year, but...well, it just wasn't what I was really after... |

I wondered if that was the full perimeter course we talked about before. Should be cool. We hiked across the desert to Coyote Gulch, down in Escalante, UT. I'll have to send you some links to the maps and course info we used. If you are into the outdoor scene you should check out bogley dot com; the website my buddy loves to use, it's very similar to Badweb in the way people help and are enthusiastic about the topic. He'll have a trip report posted before too long I can post a link to. |

Nice "BadWeather"(hiking/outdoor)topic my friends. My other favorite hobby. Great pictures Mike. The wife and I have spent many, many days in the back country of mostly northern Utah from the back country around Bear lake and Monte Christo to the high Uinta's and the west desert shooting wild horses. In the past usually scouting or hunting big game. Now just shooting with the camera. Had horses to do it for a few years and really enjoyed getting into places where few had tread. Summer and winter. One thing we really love to do now is hunt wolves in Idaho and Montana again just with the camera. Still do a lot of target shooting in the west desert on a friends cattle ranch. And many times just four wheeling with our little Suzuki XL7, the dog and taking pictures. Tailgate lunch to top it off. Anything outdoors. Truly Gods own country. A few of pictures below. Hope they do not bore you but if you love the outdoors you should enjoy them. We'll have to try and get together with you guys for that weekend ride. Stay safe all. Bob Lake Powell red rock fishing, Farley canyon.
Lake Powell arch in another side canyon.
Cedar mountains horse area.
Some wild horses, at a distance with telephoto so as to not harass them.
West desert friends ranch and some target shooting.
Bear lake overlook.
Our national symbol of course.
Lyman lake camping/fishing, day trip. {560071,} Karen & our pal Kenai @ Monte Christo in early spring.
Sled dog race finish, Uinta's, February
Snowshoeing Middlefork in January. {560068,} High Uinta's wilderness area, beautiful! {560054,}
Elk camp a while back, when we were younger and huntin' a lot. And of course, REAL horsepower. Our Arabian, Babe. He and his stablemate, a Palamino virtually took us everywhere.
Sorry, but I do not know how to put them all in a folder and post. Anything outdoors is marvelous though so I enjoyed letting you share them with me. Bob

Great pictures Bob! Those wild horse photos are really cool. Looks like you get to enjoy the outdoors a lot, Utah is a great place for that. |

Thanks much Mike and yes we still try and do as much as we can. I also just downloaded Picasa web albums to make downloading pictures easier. Took your lead on that and thanks. The way I did it was a PITA. Lets hope for better weather soon! Bob |

Looks like as of a while ago Erik did indeed confirm his appearance at F1M Superbike races at Millers this year on a Erik's Facebook post. And I saw Kerri'a name as well on the F1M website listed in the post. No info as of yet whether he will have an 1190RR with him but he was supposed to as a western debut. It would be real nice to see it run even if not in competition. I do not think its eligible at all in F1M Superbike. Link to the F1M website below. Great shots Bob! Beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing! The info I have is that Geoff May will be riding the 1125RR in AMA Superbike and/or 1190RR in the AMA-sanctioned GTO races. There is a chance he will be at MMP the weekend before for practice. The Trackstar guys hooked me up w/ some tickets for that. Stop by their shop if any of you want some...they had a big stack of them there. I sure hope they can set some sort of meet & greet or something with Erik and crew...how cool would that be???? Kerri, if I'm reading the schedule correctly it looks like Monday is THE day to be there for F1M races and the GTO race to see the 1190 run. Does that look right? I'm thinking on driving the car to have some lawn chairs & coolers with so we can sit wherever we want and maybe get some pictures at the fenceline. Did you go with grandstand seats or general admission? Should prove to be a great day of racing. |

Bob, I think you're right...Monday will be the "big" day. Here's a link to a full schedule: http://www.sbkusa.com/schedule.html I'll be in the toy hauler at the track all weekend (Sat-Mon). I have a spot right on the trackside fence in the duckhead area (right before the Attitudes) and all you guys are MORE than welcome to hang out there if you'd like! I'll have some shade and frosty beverages available. For the trackday on Tuesday, I'll move the toy hauler around to the paddock area. |

So I thought I'd pass this on: The EMT's respectfully request that no one crashes at the trackday following the races... one of the sgt's at work also works the track, he said last year after the races they had to fly out two people and had eight total go down needing medical attention. I guess people watch the races then get to feeling like they can do more than they can. Anyway, from the sounds of it this will be a really cool event! |

I remember that...it kinda freaked me out a bit. Folks were going down in odd spots too...like the last corner before the straightaway. I promise to not ride like an idiot. Signed, Me

Brandon, did not go but just caught it on channel 2 this morning. Used to do motocross, flat track and some hill climbing back when I could. Actually broke Mike in on the dirt. Many fond memories. Out of that riding now but Mike just bought a quad for him and his son, just starting out on a 50cc suzuki so maybe I'll be getting back into it. I do however like the two wheelers better. Just awful expensive for anything worth while now. My novice flat tracker below:

Kerri, check this link out: out: "http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/560871.html?1272824086" Looks like your Buell lowers well executed. Kinda what you had in mind? Man I wish this weather would get better. Time to ride again! I'm tired of just writing about bikes. Bob (Message edited by bob_thompson on May 02, 2010) |

I hear ya about this weather. I was able to catch the motocross on SPEEDTV a bit ago and all they kept talking about was the fact that it was snowing on the first weekend of May. Yeah, we get it...stop reminding us! Bob, I was just doing some work with my lowers. I'm going to leave them mostly black with a red fade at the top and the Erik Buell Racing logo in red on the sides. I got some of that Krylon rattle can plastic paint stuff (I hear you guys cringing now) but I am going to test it first to make sure it sticks. I also have painters masking paper so I'll make sure the logos are good before I do anything. I figure that for $200, I really can't screw them up too much. LOL! |

Sounds like a good plan Kerri, it should look real nice. Never been over by the attitudes at Millers. On Google it looks like a nice place. Grandstands close, what about johns? |

Yup..Witchcraft is the big sweeper right before the Attitudes and it's pretty fast...lots of good action there. Pretty cool photo ops as well. Johns? Sure they're close...right in the camper! Woo hoo! There's a whole string of porta johns near by if you'd rather. If you look at the attached map, I'm in spot 177 on the lower left side between the dirt road and the left part of the track. Food and "real" bathrooms are easily within walking distance.

Thanks much Kerri, We'll probably be parking right near you. Should be fun. Come on you guys, lets show a Buell force out there to support Erik and the Elves. They will be running the 1190RR in the GTO race at 2:10 pm. |

My son-in-law and I were at the attitudes last year, west of the grandstands,we were in the back of his UTV and could see almost every part of the track(we had really good binoc's).It's probably the best place to see the track. Also really cool to watch those bikes at that speed heading down the "tudes.Hope to see you guys out there. |

Thanks Brandon! I got a set of Erik Buell Racing-like decals made in red with a silver outline. I'm debating whether or not to put them on. Guess it wouldn't be too hard to remove them, but...we'll see I guess. (man, that link pops up everywhere! ) |
