My 05' XB12 has been sitting for about 8 weeks. When I went to start it today, I turned it on and got nothing, no lights, nothing. I thought the battery was dead. I hooked it up to my car to jump it. It started when it was hooked up to my car, but when the bike was running and I disconnected the jumper cables, the bike stopped. I tried this several times but it would not stay running unless it was hooked up to the car battery. Is this a battery issue? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks |

Battery could be shot, or it didn't have enough of a charge to keep the bike running. Charge the battery, try again, get a voltmeter and keep it handy. |

Sounds like a dead dead dead battery. These AGM batteries die oddly sometimes. The original battery for my X1 died suddenly on the highway and the bike just stopped like the key was turned. |

I was told along time ago that motorcycle batteries need to have some higher rpms to charge then just idle. Not sure if that was an old myth. But 5 yrs for a battery it maybe safe to replace anyways. |

The battery is stone ass dead replace it and check the charging system when you do. Buell's tend to beat hell out of a battery anyway. |
