7/8 socket for the front axle. While using the axle nut/tool provided in the tool pouch. |

yeppers. 7/8 inch but an allen wrench that size could run you a pretty penny. the back side of a spark plug socket with an extension inserted the wrong way werks good enuff for me. just throwing it out there ... |

and how do you put a torque wrench on it? -not that i can say ive torqued every fastener to the manual spec every time. ... and the axles do have pinch bolts, but alignment might get out of whack ... and what else would/could you use it for? -cuz that's a big-ass allenwrech. i dunno much else that is 7/8 (Message edited by nillaice on May 01, 2010) |

thanks guys. you can get allen wrenches for less than $20. I've been using the spark plug socket, wanted to get a proper tool for it. |

I guess I've never considered torqing it to proper spec...ive always just snugged it up good and used the torque wrench on the pinch bolts... |

7/8 or 22mm if you have too. tq for (rear not sure front is the same i havent changed my front tire recently) axle is 52 ft lbs and the pinch bolts is like 45 ft lbs that tells me with the hollow axle and the pinch bolt being almost as tight as the axle then there is no need to get a breaker bar and tighten the crap axle with the potential of twisting the axle/ tq it just like you would anything else/ insert tool in axle put socket on tool and tq. the rear axle you tq then back off to tighten to final tq. I dont have my manual here to tell you any certainty if the fronts the same. |

Well Home Depot didn't have anything that large, Sears had to order it, but had a hex bit socket (that's the real ticket- allows me to torque it proper)....but only in an impact for $45 for 1! eBay to the rescue! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&item=310217223116#ht_526wt_909 Can't wait for it to get here![: )](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/happy.gif) |

Try a coupler nut if you don't have the official tool. p/n 90264A221 is $2 from McMaster-Carr Not all 1/2-13 nuts are 7/8" apparently, so measure at the store. (Message edited by ducbsa on May 01, 2010) |
