Barkbusters are backordered until end of Mai at twisted throttle (in fact it is the mounting BSC STD that is back ordered).

Sit on it, eh? Sounds like a wise choice. The idea of BWB is to capture the wisdom of the great ones who have gone before leaving us newbies a legendary list of screw ups in the hope of saving us kids some pain. Uh huh. And yes BuellerXT...I am a happy man exploring the back country. Exploring anywhere really. Your wife knows how us boys process. I do think the Bark Busters are great for the Uly's and not so much the squirts...if you have ever taken a header and found your hands were on the grips as you went over...bout breaks your wrist.

Mattcc00 et all.
I have the ol' O Ring trick that I picked up from fellow Bueller on this board. By picked up I mean was informed about. I went to my local auto parts store, Asked to see there "stash", and walked out with a 2" O Ring and the widest I could find. $1.00. I slid the stock hand guard off the end of the bar (multiple drops made that easy), slid the O Ring onto the grip past the big part of the grip and into the groove between the grip and the...can't remember what the next item is on the handle bars, but it is fairly obvious once you look at the bars. Small suggestion when you go try to get one, ride your bike so you can test it in the parking lot before you leave there by ensuring proper fit. I just slid the O Ring into the groove and used my fingers to work it down into the groove. Works great. Allows for full movement of the throttle, and best of all, CHEAP. Takes some time getting used to it, like 50 miles or less, but you will make sure you like the cruise control before spending any more money on the "Real thing". Hope this helps

You mean in the grove between the grip and the controls? Is it easy to get it back outa there while riding?

So with all the dirt roads you have been riding.... you now have grove growing between the grip and the controls?

Mike,

You inspired me to order the Vista Cruise for my XT. I really appreciate the very detailed close-up photos you have provided.

I am assuming you had to move the mirror stem in just a bit to allow room for the left portion of the vista cruise? Were there any issues doing that?

I am so looking forward to getting rid of the throttle rocker. I had a Vista Cruise on an old bike years ago and loved the functionality.

Great Post! I think most of us were just not believing that the 7/8" Universal Vista was right for our bikes!

Please post your follow-up once you've tested it out well, Mark. I'm particularly interested in the amount of space left on the grip for your hand and if there is 'any' interference. Comments on the move toward the center for the mirror stem and how that effects things would also be appreciated. Oh yeah, lol, and comments on ease of use, performance, functionality, would be nice. Thanks. Mike

I have the 7/8" vista cruise on my Firebolt. I cut the inside edge of the grip off so it doesn't take up too much of the grip. I don't have big hands but there is just enough room left on the grip for my hand. It works great though. I haven't tried to put one on the XT because you can't trim the grip because of the heated grip wire. I'm sure I wouldn't have enough room for my hand. Maybe I'll try it to see if I can get used to it.
Yes, you will need to move the mirror/brake lever mount inboard just a little.

well, I would have taken pictures tonight, but mine looks exactly like Mike's. What a great set of photos!!! THANKS!!

The reason mine took 20 minutes was the fact that I could not get over the idea that the cruise does not clamp down on the grip to keep it from twisting. The clamp grips itself! It setscrews into the grip.

So I think I need to pull it away from the grip end a bit to lessen the friction for spring back. Mine seems to bind a bit. I may not have the clamp on square as it seems to want to twist just a bit when turning. It will take a little tweaking.

As for room for my hands, it seems fine without gloves. With the heavy winter gloves it may be different, but I'm more than eager to give up comfort for that short time for cruise.

Thanks again Mike!

OK, went out for a ride tonight and it seemed like there should be enough room after all. When I got home I put the vista cruise on and there is just enough room for my gloved hand. I'll ride for a couple hours with it tomorrow and post my results.

There's just enough room for my hand and after a few minutes I really didn't notice it anymore. It was nice to be able to set it and then move my right arm around some when I was on the highway.

Mike, would you post a backed up view of your cockpit? I'm trying to see what all the doo-dads are and how you have them set up.

Thanks.

When I went down my bark buster rotated up slightly as well. The lever and grip still never touched the ground, so I considered it a success.

Mike, are your levers "inside" the barkbuster (even with the frame) or do they sit well below the aluminum frame? I'm thinking I've got extra long levers on my 06??? Thanks, Barry

They are about even with the end of the bark busters.

Nice, thanks. I'm thinking about the Palmer bar ends since they'll work with the stock guards and then maybe the touratech extensions on the guards. (Actually, I think Palmer makes those, too.) I like all your little doo-dads. Good work, man.

Mikef,
I do mean in the groove between the controls and the grip. It works great, but I have never had any trouble with getting the o-ring out, (that is the purpose for the large diameter). It is also impossible to get it stuck as the throttle cable keeps it from going down in the groove completely. The throttle moves very smooth with it in place. No sticking and it has never let go on me either.

Is anyone using the Barkbuster with HMVP bar ends? Looking at buying barkbuster but wanna make sure the will work with my bar ends. Also does the high setting on the barkbuster variable height provide good protection? Im in Oregon with lots of rain and wind. Thanks
