Hello, I was wondering that what are the differences between US and EU models? I found only two differences when I looked my 2009 Parts catalog. EU model has a side-stand switch and a catalytic converter, is there other?? The reason this conversation is that, my dealer said that they canīt put new Europe Flash to my US-imported bike, because there is so many differences that my bike will not work by Europe Flash. That is correct and not possible, The Flash for the EU exhaust is made for a catalyc convertor. (it is bad) and not for a exhaust with NON catalyc convertor like yours. Easy's map is probably the ideal way to go in your situation but another alternative is the EBR ECM - just make sure you tell them it's for a US model so they don't confuse the two when doing the map and the sidestand/BAS connectivity. |

Which connector the dealers use when they put the new flash to the ECM? I wondering is it possible to send the ECM to US Dealer or someone who has the latest US Flash. |

If you're going to send your ECM to anyone I'd suggest sending it to Easy - it'd be cheaper on shipping for a start and he'll give you a great custom map for your bike. Also by the time you pay to send the ECM to the states and pay a dealer out there to do the flash and shipping back it'd also cost about the same as buying an EBR ECM and keeping your stock one. |

You could always fit a Euro spec exhaust ( with the catalytic converter ) and then have it Euro flashed. |

French if I recall right, also got a different throttle body and map, to restrict HP. They've got something like a 100 HP max regulation. But since you're not French, nothing to worry about there. ~ Jay |

so if i've got a uk bike which comes as standard with a cat and fit an exhaust(original fitment) bought from the states (ohio) will it still run ok if it by chance happened to be a non cat. How do i tell if its got a cat or not which states have cats fitted? (Message edited by foxy on April 30, 2010) |

Only the California US bikes had a cat, so your most likely doesn't have one. I have read that the cat bikes have a different marking on them, but I don't know what it is. As for the software, I honestly don't know. |

Foxy, MY2008 was the only year which there were cat and non-cat mufflers. In 2008 all of the States were non-cat mufflers except for Cali, Europe all got cat mufflers. In MY2009 they all were the same mufflers with cats. It's real easy to tell the difference between a cat and non-cat muffler. The non-cat mufflers were mild steel and the inlet where the headers meet the muffler were painted black. On the other hand, the cat mufflers were stainless steel and were not painted. so the whole muffler is mild steel as uk versions rust like mad over here , but the pipe from the muffler to the headers should be stainless and not painted on a uk bike. As the bikes run on aclosed loop with the o2 sensor , what difference does it make whether it has a cat or not as the 02 sensor should alter the fueling to compensate as surely its the same as fitting a slip on silencer and keeping the original ecu, or am i barking up the wrong tree. thanks now i'll go and dig out the us can and compare the two.
