Has anyone been able to compare the two? Which is louder? I've got a 09 SS and want some rumble, but don't want to be deaf.

In my opinion (I am sure someone else will chime in), Drummer is louder of the two. Both will give you the nice rumble you want.

I recommend you get together with the locals and hear some pipes in person to make your choice : )

I've had both and they both sound badass.
I always wear earplugs when I ride.
I prefer the Drummer.

I thought the Ops was louder, even while wearing earplugs.

I'm trying to find a stock pipe to send in for conversion. What years have the exhaust valve like my 09 SS? Anybody have one for sale?

All XB12's have the valve, the XB9's do not.
I don't think they changed over the years except the tip on the Uly's.

Great idea Froggy about finding someone local. I live near Winston-Salem, NC. If anybody on here with either a Special O.P.S. or a Drummer lives near me, hit me with a message. I'd love to hear one in person. I looked at some on youtube, but it's hard to judge by my computer speakers. Here's a link to one that sounds great IMO.

A Drummer will set off alarms too, my favorite aspect.

The tip is different on Ulys, 2007-2008 XB12STTs, and 2009-2010 XB12SS.

The other mufflers WILL work on the Uly, STT, and later SSs. You just need to notch/grind the tip a bit because the kickstand will wedge itself on the tip.

While this is only peak dbs and not a "real world" number, the exhaust shootout over at American Sporty Bike gave these peak db numbers:

Drummer:
XB9 122 db
XB12 123 db

SS Drummer:
XB9 121 db
XB12 N/A

Spec Ops:
XB9 123 db
XB12 123db

The Ops is louder but the tone of the pipes is quite different. IMO the Ops has more of a raw sound nasty kind of sound. The Drummer is cleaner & more mellow sounding. Kind of like comparing a old school muscle car vs a new Vette. Two different sounds but neither are bad.

Speaking of tone, which one do you think has a lower tone? Some of the exhaust notes on some other exhausts I've heard sound sort of nasally.

Drummer's tone is lower but different. At this point you would really need o hear them both together. You would not think that two mufflers starting from a stock core could sound so different.

Same volume. But Drummer thuds while SpecOps bangs.

Nadz is right. I have a drummer - albeit its in a XB12. My buddy has the special ops XB9.. Both loud, but mine has more thump to it - better sound IMHO.

I have a Drummer I want to trade for a stock pipe(plus cash on your part). It was made with a extra sound baffle in it, so it is just a bit quieter than a normal Drummer. Performance is great, just a little too loud for me(it could actually be my helmet too). Contact me if interested.

Jason, pm sent. I have a sparkling new stock XB12 pipe and was planning to send it out to Kevin at some point.

The Drummer with Xopti remap lets me burble around my neighborhood at 1600 with smooth roll-on. The low RPM definitely puts it into a bassier tone zone. Hate thinking about when it was stock. Then I had to go through my low-speed neighborhood at 2000-3000. It ran rough and sounded like a propane fork lift if anyone could hear it.

My SpecOPS has a bigger tip than the regular ones Odie makes ... real deep tone to it. I forgot to post some audio (long time ago), and now I'm on a ship and the bikes at home.
