My amazing piece of engineering broke down ("AGAIN") on my vacation 600 miles from home last week, an awesome 20 miles of riding though, before it had enough.
Good thing we decided to trailer, instead of riding.

Oh well, I purchased a new bike (Non-Buell) after the 1125 broke down, it made the vacation amazing, to say the least!

Great people and a great time, just not on my 1125R, to bad, maybe next time.

Oh yeah, when my 1125 broke down, I called it a POS several times.
Trust me, mine wears that label well, again, an opinion of my 1125, only mine, with facts and documented proof!

If you bought it to ride, and you can't, because of continuous issues (regardless of brand or make), what is it?

Just saying, if the shoe fits!

Give it time my friends, Someone will figure out how to blow the 1125 engine...

I have almost 47,000 miles on my 2008 1125R.
My factory warranty just ran out at the beginning of April.
I am slightly concerned that something expensive may break on the bike, but if that happens I'll deal with it at that time.
I have absolutely no intention of selling the bike because I'm still thoroughly enjoying it, I believe it has a lot more miles left, and with the demise of Buell and the tanking valuation of the bike I'm *WAY* upside down on the loan so I'd never get anywhere near what I owe out of it... I never sell it anyway; it's way too much fun.

p.s. Although the OP did act somewhat trollish, many of you were excessively harsh. With the prices on the Buells dropping to the range of the import 600cc bikes, we must expect the company of the same caliber of idiots who buy those.

So are you calling the OP an idiot or people who were "harsh" on him idiots?

I must also point out you wear a helmet mohawk (at least in your profile pic.)

TBenson,

Your profile's "problems" entries don't include any "breakdowns."

So what are you talking about? Please be specific. Who is your servicing dealership?

Paul:

Good to hear you are still around and rolling. My 08' only has 34,000 s'miles but, I purchased the extra 3 years just to keep a warm and fuzzy feeling. (Hint: if you shop around you can find the H-D extended warranty for $800, or better) Besides the rear wheel needing to be replaced mine has been great.

With my 140 mile a day commute, I depend on mine being rock solid, and it has. More fun with the Torque Hammer but that's another thread.

All of the above.

I did sport 3 helmet mohawks (red white and blue) until the red one flew off while carving up Canyon Rd near Yakima with some buddies at over 125 MPH. Then I removed the remaining 2 hawks and have enjoyed less wind resistance, though I miss the attention... They really did help me to be seen.

If only I had known that last month... before my factory warranty ran out. I was looking into getting a 5-year extended, but didn't realize my warranty expired this month; thought it was next month. So now it's too late.

My daily commute is only 70 miles.

Looking forward to your impressions of the Torque hammer. The Barker is really appealing to me... A guy who lives about 1/8 mile from me got one. I like the look, but have yet to hear it in person.

You mean when you pulled into the bike night parking lot or on the road?

Honestly, a helmet mohawk as a safety item? YOu should try a high viz yellow jacket if you want to be seen.}

I wouldn't and didn't claim that it qualifies as a safety item, but, for what it's worth, I know that they did help me be seen and that people noticed me more while I was riding. In the ensuing months after removing the mohawks, there was a noticeable increase of persons attempting to merge into me on the highway and pulling out in front of me on the city streets. Perhaps coincidence; perhaps not.

Anyway, I always ride like I'm simultaneously invisible and that others on the road are actively trying to kill me. Thus far I've survived relatively unscathed.

Blake,
When anything sets at a dealer for repairs, it is "broke down", is it not?
After all, it is not in the owners possession, or being used by the owner for what it was purchased for, right?

My profile entries are not current.

I have switched servicing dealers, A.D. Farrow is more convenient for me, and a little closer than the previous dealer, where I also purchased my 1125R.
Why do you ask?

The specifics are, my 1125 has spent more time at the dealership for repairs than anything I have ever owned (cars, trucks, motorcycles Etc.Etc.), even a new 1998 Dodge Dakota that Chrysler could not repair, so they bought it back, this is what I am comparing my 1125 to.
As mentioned before, my 1125, not all!

Look it is what it is, rather people try to defend, ignore, or call BS on valid complaints people have with their 1125's, the issues are still there, and others will have the same issues, it is not a hidden secret!

Some owners say they have been fortunate, some say they have not, unfortunately I have not!

Are most of the engine failures due to inadequate oil levels and out of these engine failures are most of them equipped with aftermarket parts? I am sure you see what im getting to should I keep my bike stock form for the longest life?

I recall there being only 3 engine failures of all the people that have posted to this forum. I think one dropped a valve, and maybe the other 2 cracked the cases, but I can't say for sure.

There is not a rash of engine failures due to a mechanical reason. If you run any engine low on oil, it may have some problems.

Modifying the intake/exhaust/fuel delivery systems will not impact engine life as long as you know what you are doing. If you have to ask, then you probably don't know what you are doing.

"When anything sets at a dealer for repairs, it is "broke down", is it not?"

No. That's moronic. If you cannot be totally honest, then find another forum to frequent. Pretending that a bike is "broke down" anytime it has warranty work or service that requires it be left at a dealership is not honest.

So I ask again concerning your "breakdowns"...

So what are you talking about? Please be specific.

I ask because we demand honesty here.

You've tripped the troll alert. Calling Buell POS, advertising that it "broke down" then lauding that you purchased another brand... major troll excrement, nothing of value whatsoever, just miserable Buell bashing.

Kinda harsh here lately when someone is unhappy with their bike/dealer ect.

I dont know how it is in the USA for parts but Canada has a single importer of all HD bikes and parts.

They are currently stock 0 Buell parts of any kind. All parts orders must be paid in full before ordered (warranty items obviously not)

I am waiting on the harness and cali can. The dealer asked if i would leave the bike. I declined as weather has been nice ( snowed today btw).

However if my bike had the clutch weep or another known issue which required me to not ride the bike, i know i would be down for up to 8 weeks on parts.

That would not make me happy and i think qualifies for "broke down".

Since our riding season seems like it only lasts 8 weeks i think i might even call it a POS in frustration.

Why do people think the clutch weep renders the bike unrideable. Simply not true.

I rode my 08 for about 1000 miles with the clutch weep till I totally lost the clutch. Then I bled it back and rode it some more. I dropped it off at the dealer, less than 24 hours later it was fixed good as new.

So out of my post thats all you got from it? That a weeping clutch doesnt require the bike to be parked?

Nothing about how the attitude of this board has grown nasty toward anyone who claims to have an issue with their bike?

Nothing about how the sole importer of Buell parts is not and will no longer carry any parts for the bikes?

Kinda makes my point

Nobody is being nasty, and the parts situation is the same for many, not just in Canada.

Although it does reinforce a previous post of mine that many people are just simply unable to get a point across to others on the internet then they get frustrated about it.

Froggy

Id say Blakes post is nasty. The person he refers to maybe a troll or he may just be a frustrated owner.

Im enjoying my time with Puddles (when it doesnt snow) but i can admit to being uneasy about the parts situation.

Just to add , was at a BMW dealership looking at bikes. Asked the price of a F800GS with all the bells.

The sales person asked what i currently rode (he was thinking trade in and i was thinking if only i had won that lotto)and when i replied 2009 1125R he replied "Oh sorry we cant even consider it as a trade in at any price" and walked away.

More then Buell owners are aware of the total lack of parts in Canada.

free health care !!!

Ron

Trust me it is not free.

When i was teenager we paid $66 a month for it. The Gov decided to make it universal and eliminated the monthly fee and hid it in our taxes.

With a personal tax rate of nearly 30% id gladly buy private health care.

My nastiness is intentional. It wards off the whiny morons and trolls. They either learn the lesson and join productive positive discussion here or depart, later to find each other in another forum where in trembling sobs of despair they tenderly engage in mass spooning to comfort their bruised egos. As their tender community spooning subsides, some express their fantasies about perpetrating malicous troll schemes, DDOS attacks, virus hacks and all manner of miserableness against the BadWeB. They are a swell bunch.

I've no use for whiners, complainers or trolls. Call me nasty. Fine with me.

I'm scratching myself right now as a matter of fact.
