Oh my goodness. This is everything I hoped. Buell stroked 'em, which means Aaron can bolt the good stuff right on. I am SO happy they stroked 'em, instead of just slapping on bigger bores. Picture a Nallin XB1500R or XB1500S, in a GP250 sized frame, out the door for $15k. Thank you thank you thank you Buell, it would have been really easy for them to leave everything else alone and just bolt on bigger jugs, but they did "the right thing"...

still a xb9 made a xb12 has 700 rpm more range ( only making my self happy, because all the big buck's are already gone in my little bolt and i really don't wananow how this will effect the value of a 1 year old bolt ) |

Then don't ask. Ride it and enjoy it like you always have. I will! And if anyone wants to get rid of their 'piddly' XB9S (black only, please!) let me know. |

- ride it and enjoy it like you always have - I will,} slidly off topic, Riding at the moment with hyperpro suspension, I volunteered my bike for measuring en testing, new front & rear springs ( progressive one’s ) And after the holidays the will fit a steering damper as well ( not that the bike needs one , but it seems to sell good ) Man watt a difference, really give’s me confidence on the bike, steers like a razorblade and flickeble from left to right and still stable at high speed. With less preload at the rear( it was notch 6 ) now notch 4 There not really finished yet, the test guy want to get ride off the self rising while braking in the corner the falling in to corners at low speed & the pushing the bike in to the corner at high speed. The road handling was already good, But feeling the diff. Wow. It really feels good. Gr,m edited by bud on July 14, 2003 |

On July 12, Aaron posted: I don't know any more about this new model or models than y'all do... and at 2:40 p.m. on July 14, Nallin Racing announced their upgrade package for the XB12 that was introduced to the expectant public on the morning of that same date. Guess you guys had a busy day, huh? At least we know you can keep a secret!! r-t

The "y'all" is the built in disclaimer. Go to Buell in East Troy, you'll see two buildings, the right hand doesn't necessarily know what the left hand is doing, if you happen to be facing south that is. |

No, I stand by my statement, no inside information at all. It doesn't take any inside info to see that it'll be real straightforward to do 1250 and 88" kits. Chances are, we already have stuff that will work, worst case it'll need some minor mods that we can turn around quickly. They don't go re-tooling without a reason. Sometimes I just love H-D |

Something interesting for all you suddenly downtrodden 984cc owners out there. The new flywheels from the XB12's will retrofit to your bikes, giving you your very own 1203cc. The only other change between the bikes is the main motor sprocket in the 9's is shorter, because the motor spins faster. That will undoubtedly become a hot set-up as well - putting the 9's sprocket on the 12's shortening the gearing and really turning them into wheelie monsters. Just a thought. Wont the pistons be different for the 12? The longer stroke should require a higher wrist pin location. Or will the older 1200 big bore pistons work? Just wonderin'. |

Mzoo, when they dropped the stroke down to 3-1/8" for the XB9, they left the cylinder height and the wrist pin location in the same place and just made the rod longer. My guess is they just went back to a shorter rod when they took the stroke back to 3-13/16. I do expect the piston is different though. The stock XB chamber is 62cc and to get 10:1 the 984cc motor has a domed piston. But with 1203cc under that same chamber, a flat top piston yields 10:1. So my guess is it's got a flat top piston, same wrist pin location, same head, same cyl, and a shorter rod. |
