So I'm on my way home from work, traffic is a bit stop and go, not too bad. My commute is about 25-30 min.

Normal speeds all the way from 0-75 or so on the highway. My bike is a 06 XB9SX, 20K. It was running great, then seemed to start acting very sluggish and I looked at the instruments and noticed that the clock wasn't reading and then it died. No blinking red or anything in that minute or so that I noticed.

I tried to let it sit for a bit while checking the battery connections and fuses and looking for anything amiss.

When I try to start it, if the clutch is in, it'll make a clicking sound. If the clutch isn't pulled in there isn't anything. There seems to be plenty of juice. The lights and everything seem bright.

I'm waiting for a truck to take me to Destination HD, which isn't too far away and they service it. I dunno. The battery is about 2 years old and I keep it on a tender.

Thoughts? Beer, thanks, I already thought of that. I mean any thoughts on what's wrong with my bike?

After snooping around on here a bit after this...

I'm wondering if this isn't the dreaded VR/stator/Deutschbag #77 thing.

The dealer seemed to think it was just a matter of plopping a new battery in and calling 'er good. Somehow, I don't think a two year old battery that's been on a tender would go bad that quickly.

A dead battery can run the lights fine, but have nowhere near the power to turn the starter.

And I think you are right about the dealer... I doubt a bad battery would cause the bike not to keep running. It would keep it from starting, but not kill it once it is running. Unless it is REALLY bad.

I'm guessing 77 connector as well. Or dead stator. But these systems are all intertwined so you have to test each part.

i had a bike where the battery sucked and it killed the bike at a stoplight, just cut all power.
