I've heard of a few people safety wiring and clamping their oil filters and I would like alittle clarification on the procedure. Some pictures would be great too. Thanks for the help in advance |

a K&N filter makes it easier - 17mm hex & drilled for safety wire |

Just a big hose clamp around the filter, tightened down on it, then wire the hose clamp. If the filter can't turn, it can't come off. |

I just use a large hose clamp around the filter itself and safety wire it to the closest fixed point. In my case it was the tie bar that is right next to the filter. I have had 2 filters vibrate off completely and i almost crashed twice. I wont run without the filter being safety wired. I connected the wire to the nut on the clamp and then to the tie bar! |

This is how I have mine. Reuseable and clean looking, no wire. http://www.saintjohn.nbcc.nb.ca/Marriott/x1/oilfil terlock.jpg |
