I have a 2001 blast that is very hard to start.I took it to a dealer last fall and the problem still exists.I have read some info on this site, and have changed the intake boot and put in a new spark plug. Bike has good spark. When turning the bike over, it has good suction at the carb.If you take the air intake box apart and spray starting fluid in the carb, it starts.Once the bike runs and warms up, it starts fine, but until then it is very sluggish and bogged down.I'm thinking it has something to do with the electric choke, but am not sure.Any ideas or suggestions? Welcome Dirtech! If it still has the stock jetting (42/170) bumping the slow jet up to a 45 or even 46 should improve starting even with a bad choke (it'll improve running either way). Adjusting the idle mixture screw 2 1/2 truns out will also help. |
