Hi All, I've been trying t figure out how I can raise the handle bars a few inches. I've come up with something and I wanted to run it buy you. I bought a set of OEM handlebars for American Sport Bike, along with some adjustable risers from ROX. http://www.roxspeedfx.com/cgi-bin/cart/showitems.c gi?subcat_id=269 The Risers need to be machined to fit because the OEM bars have a slot that fits into the tripple tree and they also need to be threaded for the OEM screws. Once that is done, they would be fit into the tripple tree and the OEM handle bars would be fit into the risers. These Risers are adjustable by virtue of the rubber bushing and bolt that hold the top and bottom piece together. So the handlebars can be angled to whatever position is desired. Therefore I can have a pullback of up to 4-5 inches and a rise of 2 inches. This could not work without the machine work. My concerns are: 1) Does the wiring allow for that much rise and pullback assuming they are re-routed? 2) Will the throttle cables fit or will I need new ones. Do they sell longer ones? 3) Can I get Clutch and Brake lines in the appropriate length? 4) Interference with the Fairing. It looks like it would fit but I'm not 100% sure. I doubt it and those cables are as fickle as they come brother any tweak at all and jam city. | ||

The CR high bar kit has longer cables and lines so you could probably use them. The switchgear cables are quite short though so you might need to extend them. Al sells a higher/closer bar that might do what you need with less hassle... | ||

I installed the kit on my R that Al makes for them. Even though it's only a 1" rise, it made a huge difference. Now I can ride longer distances without stopping to stretch. Basically enough to when it's time to gas up @120mi. Gotta go with better padding now... | ||

Anything more than an inch rise will require new of all the cables, then you will have fairing clearance issues. Just get the kit from American Sport Bike for the 1" rise, I am sure you will be happy with it, if you need more of a rise your best bet is to get a Ulysses. | ||

Hi all, Thanks for the responses. I've considered the 1 inch rise bars from American Sport Bike. I'm afraid an inch won't do it. I was considering the Convertibars but I don't like them much. I saw someone on this forum modify the OEM bars and get almost a 2 inch rise. That would help but I need a bit of pullback too. I am really uncomfortable and looking for some solution. These ROX adapters "with some modifications" look like they might do the trick . Thanks Peter | ||

Peter: I have 25,000+ miles on my Convertibars. They give the rise, pullback and the angle adjustment so they can be fitted just right to you and your riding style. I do like the bars Al is offering but they are restricted in some respects compared to the Convertibars. I saw a guy with risers on an RC51 at the track last week. It is VERY odd to see a sportbike with a guy sitting upright in the saddle. | ||

I still have a set of Renthal Fatbars and risers in a box in the garage that I was planning on fitting to a spare top yoke I have. I also have the high bar kit in case I ever go that route but as every day goes by it seems less likely I will  | ||

Make sure you also drop the pegs to the 1" drops that are available that is a huge difference in comfort | ||

The Risers would not be setting me back far enough to be upright. In fact all they would allow me to do is be at a normal position for a taller guy. I let a three of my friends take it for a spin. The are all 6 foot guys and they were much more comfortable. They could also reach the ground whereas I am on my tiptoes. I believe this was bike was designed for a taller guy. Thanks Peter |
