I just installed the crossroads -7 degree handlebars on my bike and my throttle is sticking when the bars are cranked fully left. I know that this has been in a problem with many people because I have seen a couple of threads using the search for crossroads. They are all older threads though (05-07) and none come to a conclusion on this problem. I tried doing a better search but for some reason when I search with multiple words it boots me out. Anyways I know that it is a routing issue and I have spent about 3 hours trying to get the routing correct. Does anyone know a solution or have a link to a thread on this? Any help would be great. Thanks. |

I had similar issues with the 0 degree bars. I had to drill a hole in the housing and route the cables through there. |

+1 on drilling a hole in the housing. You want the cable to come through the hole straight to the grip/throttle tube. Think parallel to the bars. Let me know if you get stuck and I'll post some photos of mine (I would need to go take some or they would be on here now). Good Luck! |

I had trouble with the clutch cable, and did the hole in the side mod for it. The throttle cable was a little sticky, so I just fiddled with it, trying to get as gentle a curve as possible with it. It took a couple of tries, but I finally got it to act right. It doesn't exactly snap back the way it did before, but it's close enough for me. |

Hey Guys, thanks for the help so far. I am really trying to avoid drilling that hole. I have talked to Al at American Sport Bike and he said that he has been able to get them on there without it. The only reason I am hesitant is that I dont want to drill the hole then still have the problem. They are routed pretty clean going into the housing as is. If worse comes to worse I will just drill I guess though. The weird thing is that one of the cables actually came loose off of the actual throttle (the idle cable) and then the throttle control worked just fine. It worked with the bars turning either way and snapped back just fine. It did however have a bunch of play in it. Once it snapped back you could rotate it about another inch. This leads me to believe that it is that idle cable and not the throttle cable that is getting pinched. Because of this I took the idle cable completely out and lubed it and reinstalled it with as clean of a route as possible. I still get the same problem though. It looks to me like the pinch in the cable comes either where the fork tube comes close to the frame or at the bottom where the cable enters the fly screen. I just dont see how routing the cable through that housing might help solve those two problem areas. I am leaving for the week tomorrow to go to Idaho but once I get back I guess I will look into drilling that hole and see if that solves this. If any of you have pictures available of where you drilled it exactly that would be great. I know that there is some extra support struts in that housing that I dont want to drill into. I keep trying to do a search for these and I keep getting booted when I try to do multiple word searches. Anyways thanks for your guys' help. |

I put a set of MSR atv bars on my STT and was having the same problem. I looked at my Uly for help because I was using the lines and cables for a Uly. The "nacelle" or thing that holds the lights is different and that is obvious....BUT the cable on the Uly have a more direct route because there is no metal under the instrument cluster on the right side. I used a cut off wheel and removed a chunk of alum. that was about 1/2" X 2" and now the cables have a more direct path. I'll take a pic latter and post up. |

Hey guys, I just got back from my trip and the weather is starting to get nice here so I am going to try to get this done this week. Does anyone possibly have pictures of the hole that they have drilled and/or the route they used for the cables on the inside of the fly screen? Thanks again for the help you guys have given me already. |

I was having the throttle cable bind when I installed the crossroads....played around forever with the cables...drilled the holes through the flyscreen....finally bought new throttle cables and that was the solution. With the directions from American Sport you should have got the pics of the alternative solution..drilling holes...ask Al. |

I had to do a little cutting but it works and my throttle doesn't stick anymore. |
