Doesn't look like Ohio does it! Awesome ride. Found out that while the Strada's work fine on dry gravel and dirt, anything wet (short of pavement) might as well be solid ice. Almost downed it a twice due to crazy slippery mud (not thick, just slick), and my buddy on the KLR had one extremely close call. He was playing in the mud along the side of the road before getting stuck in a rut and sliding 180 degrees. He kept it up and slid back onto the road. It was an awesome adrenalin packed ride. North of Zanesville in and around the "Tri-Valley Wilderness Area". |

I want knobbies. Why can't I have knobbies? Must be knobbies somewhere. Thinking about an extra set of wheels set up with knobbies. We need knobbies. |

I miss my KLR at times... But the Uly kicks it's butt on the road. I'm getting older, and the bone jarring just hurts too much afterwards. I'll be doing some two track stuff in the Spring, but only in the dry. Looks like you guys had some fun though. I enjoyed the pictures and the post from last time as well. Jack |

Here's some knobbies for you. They supposedly work great on the Uly, problem is the tread life is pitiful. 1500 miles is about it. Wouldn't work for me, I've had this thing for less than a month and have over 2000 miles on it. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/29/393/5425 /ITEM/Pirelli-MT-60-R-Dual-Sport-Front-Tire.aspx |

Good point on the knobbies. Special rides...the idea of extra wheels would make sense...so does keeping my DR650 for those cross country trips. |

Cool shots! That part of Ohio is interesting. And no running shoes this time! |

I got 3500 miles out of the MT-60s I run them every winter. they are best on chunky mud, and hard pack forest roads, no good on snow or ice DAMHIK |

Bringing this thread back to life! Im curious to see how the Pirelli's compare with the Avon Distanzia's? Anyone run both before? I ran the Distanzias this winter and also a little bit off-road and on some "closed for the season/flooded" roads and had amazing results. Not to mention enough rubber to burn through an Interstate 95 NY to FL AND BACK run. Although at an average of 90mph, the rubber on the front bubbled under the extreme heat due to the SM (super motard) compound used, but they lasted for over 5k miles. Impressive to say the least!} |

if you run pea gravel at high rate of speed, stay away from the Avon Disties They cut out on shale and pea gravel at the happy zone 48-53 mph. NOT confidence inspiring to have the tires cup and cut when you are rolling 3k in third gear and you know your ZTL is off limits. Over inflating doesnt seem to help either. Apparently when they tested the tires... their rider didnt push it hard in the dirty corners. If you ride alot of gravel, stick with the syncs or the MT60s It maybe different on a ULY, but I will never put them on my ride again. |

D616. Never had to push it out of the woods yet, handle great on pavement (KEEP THE PRESSURE RIGHT), I get 5k rear / 10k+ front. Yes, around 9k or so I start to get some headshake from the "Dunlop-cup" syndrome, but it's nothing I can't ride around. And I'm not gentle. All three bags, on/off road riding, superslab and 2 lane mountain twisties...zero chicken strips, I use every last mm of the tire and it never complains. |

Yup, I was a bit North of Zanesville. Headed back out your way this weekend (weather permitting) for a gravel road enduro! http://www.zanesvilletrailriders.com/cabin_fever_1 0.pdf |

We can't seem to find dirt roads around here, so we just hop from cow patty to cow patty. I gives a similar effect. |
