My Uly is leaking oil from where the clutch cable threads into the primary case. Looking the service manual, it looks like there's an o-ring that makes the seal and the instructions say to use a new o-ring when you replace the cable. I haven't gotten my parts manual yet to look it up myself, but my dealer is telling me the o-ring isn't listed - only the full cable assembly. Seems odd... Anyone know if there actually is a PN for this o-ring or if not, what the dimensions are so I can pick one up?

Part number 11179. May not be the o-ring at fault. Can't really tell from your pic but some eraly Uly cables leaked at the crimp to the shield, mine did. My last two haven't, but they're the new style crimp. You can replace the o-ring but if it still leaks wrap some rubber plumber's tape around the area, that'll stop it. Also use the Permatex/Loctite sealant on the threads, same as you use on the drain plugs. |

Replacing the o'ring is not going to fix this leak. As it's clearly coming from the cable housing/crimp and blowing back. Clean the spooge with brake cleaner and blow dry. Repeat twice more, then add drop of crazy glue to the cable housing, that should seal the housing to the fitting. Then forget about it... |

I was wondering about that. At first it looked to me that the crimp was leaking, but didn't think that was a very likely problem. It's not leaking fast enough to really be a problem - more of a nuisance. I like your thinking Teeps - think I'll try that. |

DO NOT try to torque down that fitting on the end of the cable to stop the leak either. The threads are aluminum and it will snap right off. (DAMHIK) If you get a new cable, be very careful about snugging it down. |

Mine looks exactly like yours. I just clean it off good once in a while. |

That was fixed under warranty 20K ago - hasn't leaked since. Installed a new cable because it was the crimp that was leaking. (Message edited by Joe_Solo on April 18, 2010) |

I have the same problem. Bike is in the shop at Bumpus Harley in Memphis. They didn't act surprised when they saw it. I was told the cable would be replaced. |

Check your vent hose. I had this problem last year and a freaking spider built a nest in my vent hose causing oil to come up and out the clutch cable. BTW spiders are NOT covered under warranty |
