Last week I took delivery of Cortech's Sport Saddlebags ($117.68 shipped from NewEnough.com) and just got back from a weekend trip around 150 miles total (just up the GF's house). These bags are rockin'! With the bags expanded (there's a 400 degree zipper that let's the bags expand about another 4.5" for extra capacity), there's roughly 34 liters of space inside, plus each bag has a smaller zip pocket for smaller, flatter items (cell phone, maps, toiletries, etc). Everything is very secure once it's all zipped up, and even when they're completely empty they retain their shape at speed. Obviously our bikes aren't "cookie cutter" so fitment isn't exactly perfect, but it's about as close as you could get unless you had tiny bags. The bottom of the bags rest on the passenger peg heel guards but it's not that big of a deal: the bottoms are reinforced with heat shield for bikes that high high-mount exhausts so it can take it no problem. The whole inner area of the bags are padded with neoprene-esque foam that doesn't scuff or scratch the plastic bodywork at all! I was impressed. The over straps (that go over the pillion) even come with sleeves with the same padding in case you wanted to use them (wouldn't work for my application, and you'll see why in the pics). Very easy to adjust the four stability straps (each corner has one) and I just attached them to the passenger peg heel guards and passenger peg brackets. Works perfectly. If you didn't have passenger pegs I suppose you could use the indicator mounts and rider peg heel guards just fine. What I really like is the over straps fit under the pillion cover/seat for security ... no one's walking off with these bags unless they have your key. From the looks of it, 60 seconds, same as other bags with similar attachment mechanisms (I have Nelson-Rigg). But the expandability here looks like it might be worth the extra ducats. I'd probably lower the pegs, but that's just me. | ||

Once you have all the straps adjusted for your bike, you're all set. Only takes 5 seconds to attach each strap to the mount and then clip, you're in. >> I'd probably lower the pegs, but that's just me. You mean fold the pegs out? It may look like it, but they don't touch the bags at all -- it's the heel guards that touch.} | ||

I have a set of those and the tailbag as well - I typically just run the tailbag, but I've used the saddlebags and they're pretty darn nice! | ||

I keep a set of the Cortech bags on my Multistrada along with the top bag and they work great. Never a problem even at interstate speeds (and beyond). I'll probably get another set for my 1125r. | ||

+1 on the Cortech's. Had them on my XB12Ss on a trip from Houston to Cali and back and they held everything my wife and I needed for the 1 week trip. Once I get em installed under the seat and attached to the passenger pegs(which I only install when using the Cortech) I leave them on for the duration of the trip. I place all contents in 1 big nylon or plastic bag per side. That way when I get to hotel stop, i just unzip the top of the two bags and pull out the inner bags leaving behind the empty and still attached Cortechs. Much easier for me than removing/replacing the bags each time. YMMV, Nels | ||

I don't think they fit correctly without the passenger peg brackets. Too bad. I have had a set in the box for a couple years because I don't run with the passenger pegs... | ||

Fresno, I don't run with passenger pegs either but as the Buell brochure points out, that's easy to change when I go on road trips. I don't need more carrying capacity than a backpack affords me any other time so when I get back from a roadtrip, 4 bolts later the passenger pegs are off again. YMMV, Nels | ||
