dont know technically if it is over heating just know a couple of instiinces when i have stop at a light the light comes on on the gages. as soon as i take off it turns off. i did replace the fan last year but they sent me a firebolt fan so i had to fabricate it to fit and dont know if it is not keeping it cool enough when stopped. been riding with this fan for a couple month and just started doing this.

What light is coming on?
Have you checked the trouble codes?

If your bike is overheating, the check engine light will blink (not stay on), and then it will go into whats called skip spark mode, which intentionally misfires the the rear cylinder to cool it down.

Sorry I should have specified, it was the check engine light that comes on. This spring when I was getting the bike ready, I changed out the plugs and tore the rear cyclender plug wire. Never re-placed it, my buddy is the one who rides the bike now, so wasnt to worried about it. I just jimmy riged it with some electrical tape. I'm going to get new plug wires and see if that helps.
