Well, the other shoe finally dropped. My grandmother is not doing well by any means and the job hunt is not working out quite the way I'd planned so I'm going to have to beg off for this year. Rex, the cabin is yours if you want it. I'll call the Camp and let them know.
Very sorry to hear that, Pete. Both on your grandmother and the job hunt. And your non-attendance, of course. Hopefully we'll catch you on something closer to home, then. Jay, we appreciate the culinary efforts. I'll get Jaci to get back to you here. Cell phone numbers on the way.
Hmmmm. Frank, judging from the picture, I think I see a couple of things you might want to look at on your bike before you head down here. Just sayin'...
Now I'm pissed... I have a f@#$n conflict on that Sunday!!! I'll find out Wed if I can resolve it. Damnit! I marked me as off on vacation 2 months ago and they schedule shit anyway!
Brad, same thing happen to me last year. We had a major exercise during the S2 Gathering. I had my vacation in well in advance and the Colonel decided that my vacation was cancelled so I told him I quit.... It was a gamble and please do not do that LOL. He and my CEO decided I could take vacation since I had not taken any since I started working there. Ha, I was going anyway.
The first day of the Gathering my CEO called and wanted to have lunch and discuss my future with the company... oh oh.... Turned out he wanted to work on another project in an effort to support another customer (FBI and TSA). All was ok and I did end up quitting that job last Sep to take a Civil Service position. (the CEO has called me a couple of times discussing other jobs so I guess I did not burn that bridge)
Family and your job come first. I really hope you can make it but everyone understands if you can not.
Hey Brad, I see from your profile that your are a network geek, try Telecommuting. We can make a cardboard cutout of an office and no one will be the wiser.

Just curious, how many people will be stopping in Amarillo on the 13th? As I stated earlier, anyone who wants to park a trailer at my Dad's is more than welcome. Whether you do or bot though, my dad wants to have a cookout for whoever can make it, including plenty of Veggies so Jaci Wont be left out.
A barbie with veggies sounds marvelous! The 13th sounds a little late isn't it? I'm seeing 472 miles from Amarillo to Leakey and that is totally beyond our ability for a days travel. The date is getting close enough that we should be sewing up travel plans with Frank and anyone else. I was thinking we'd hit Amarillo either Wedesday or Tuesday. I'll be phoning Frank and Ross in a day or two.
Eric, you may need to go down to Amarillo before me. I had planned on making it one day to Ross's then one day to Leakey. I initially planned on one day for the trip if I ride the whole way (Ironbutt). I am not sure at this point as there are many variables.
My time off is limited. I need to have enough vacation time for Homecoming and it is going to be tight as it is.
I'm going to have to back out of this years gathering. Too many irons in the fire, and not enough hours. I was hoping to get my maintenance done, and everything lined up to go. But it looks like it isn't going to happen.
Hopefully I'll be able to see ya'll at the UP gathering.
Mike, I hate to hear that being that you were the second one to show up last year, on my heals, looking like you just came off a three day bender after riding straight through from NY to CO.
Every time I open this thread I see the "Man, I am woefully unprepard..."
Getting there. Jaci and I were out on the Buell for the first time this year. Not even a tank of gas and our asses are toast. And we're unlikely to have time or weather for any more break-in before we arrive in Amarillo. As I recall my plan, we would hope to stop in to Frank's for a visit and a pint earlier in the week and then, if we must, depart a day ahead of you, Frank. You can reel us in. Just watch for us stretching on the side of the road.
Bummer, Mike. We were looking forward to seeing you again. I doubt we'll make Up, so see you Left.
I've PM'd Brad. Is there anyone else heading for Ross's dad's but us and maybe Brad?
