pretty smart guy but really dont want to brick my ecm or burn a piston so i turn to the wealth of knowledge that is here. so i have pulled the data with the aforementioned tools and i now have two questions. i have the BUEZD0P0 #172 tune(seems my dealer hasn't been as helpful as i thought) how/what do i actually change and which xdf file do i use when using tunerpro? |

I think you should go to the dealer and get your ECM updated to the "062" flash from last October. You may not even need to worry about tuning then. ac |

try doing a search for tunerpro and ecmread. search feature saves a lot of time and headache sometimes. I posted the how too already. also look on the xb board for it. Its the same way to use either bike. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/554759.html (Message edited by xoptimizedrsx on April 15, 2010) |

Xopti i got that thanks for the refresh. what i am actually looking for is what to change and how much to change it. there are 3 lists of over 100 things each and most of them seem obvious no change needed but the ones i have some questions about such as front and rear fuel map 1 and 2 same for ignition maps which lines need changing the graph looks really funky will it look any smother when i am done? etc |

If the graph is all over the place with a lot of goofy lines, you've got the wrong file. The fuel map should be a gradually increasing spread, kinda like looking at a hill that's been cut away on the side. Here's a pic of the wrong fuel file/map and it's ugly. If yours looks like this, you need a different file. I had the wrong one the first time I looked at it. You also need a way to track what you do to the ecm. Wideband O2 setup, EGA machine, something. Datalogging will help some. Without one of those, you're really just shooting in the dark and the odds of blowing a hole in one of your pistons is a wee bit larger. Adding extra fuel won't hurt it much, they do tend to run lean from the factory, EPA mandated tuning. The secondary fuel map is for the showerhead injectors on the race stuff. One last thing, file a copy of the original away somewhere, write protect the file, then burn a copy to cd. If something goes wrong, you can always flash back to the original, provided you have a copy of it. |

The reason I suggested you go get your ECM updated, is BUE2D is the firmware for the latest flashes. You might as well start with the BEST OEM fueling map as a baseline. ac |

D that's what i am looking at no matter what xdf i load into tune pro. thanks for the secondaries explanation. all i was thinking to do is to fatten it up a little and look for any gaping holes to fill. have copies of copies of copies tucked away. so i guess the first thing to do is find the right xdf which so far doesn't seem to exist. will keep plugging along |

i gotcha avc and i will be looking into that in the mean time i still want to play around and learn more about this software and how it functions. as a matter of course i have just used all the xdf files i have including the new BUE3xx one that's out there. still the front map looks like the one posted above like it's been put into a blender. if anyone has copy of the map that they'd be willing to email me i'd be more than happy to go slap it in there and see if i even want to keep on with the tuning. i'd love to do that so i can avoid the time spent waiting on the dealer who has assured me several times already that the bike has the latest flash..... |

Has the dealer put it on the scanner? Or do they just run the VIN or "tell" you it is fine? I had to bet the service manager a pizza that there was a newer flash to get him to put it on the scanner. ac |

I have a custom map for the BUE2D, it has been mapped with the AFV's locked at 118. I dragged my map off my ecu & loaded it up on tunerpro to make a few twaeks. I am happy to share even though it cost me. |

That flash is obsolete, I picked up my 08R last weekend, they put on "BUE2D242 11-30-09" |

seems it may cost me a pizza to get one from the dealer not to mention that i have no one here to help me get it there and i have the kids all day every day, thus the motivation for doing it myself besides just wanting to get a little more intimate with my R |

If you had the BUE2D architecture, you could do the updating to the latest calibration yourself if Froggy is willing to help out. Otherwise, you will always be playing with an old file. I need to find a way to get this new 242 flash. ac |

Kick's eprom will not directly import to your ECM. You would have to check out the fuel/timing maps individually and play from there since they are different firmwares. ac |

Well if it is, its lean as hell below 4k. She gets almost 50mpg now, so I am happy. I don't see how it is a Race ECM as I haven't gotten one yet, I doubt the dealer swapped it on me. PM me if you want my EEPROM. I am getting my 09CR back soon, I took down a copy of the EEPROM before dropping it off and asked them to update it while it was in for work. |

I figured you checked since you said you copied it before dropping it off. Are you getting your harness update? If so, they SHOULD put 152 on as far as I know. Still dying curious to know more about your 242 on the 08! ac |

If nothing else, I'll send you the files I have that work on mine. It's the 062 flash though. The latest one Froggy has might have something to do with the stator/charging for the newer models and they just applied it to the 08's, it just hadn't really been announced. I was hoping to get mine in soon to see if it could be done on mine also, but it's been a busy week for me. There may be a bulletin for it. |

I tried to tell you, you simply CANNOT flash the EPROM from once firmware onto a different firmware. If you want to work with BUE2D EPROMs you need to go to the dealer and get your ECM updated to a flash with BUE2D firmware. ac |

okay still trying to understand this ecm setup. i am looking at the txt files that go with them. on the 0P0 flash there are 13 full pages and part of the 14th on the 242 there are 14 full pages and part of the 15th i am beginning to wonder if i can takes the fuel and spark sections from one to the other? is that possible? or is there the a problem with that logic as i think there may be as evidenced by the different xpr files needed for tunerpro. |

Boogi & Avc fuel maps & timing tables on route, if you dont have the same firmware as mine dont use my eeprom file to flash your ECU. The fuel maps & timing tables will give you a heads up to start your own maps in tunerpro. I have set my CR up pretty fat down low for extra wheely fun. Hope this helps you both & share if you like as I did. |

Yes, if you want you can manually update the fuel and timing maps of your current firmware to match a newer firmware. But you CANNOT try to upload an EPROM from a different firmware. ac |
